About

I wanted to do it better at a realistic and affordable price

The story started for me when I was looking for a true personalised gift for my sisters 40th birthday. Having found word prints which said it perfectly, I wanted something different to what everyone else was doing and I didn't want to pay through the nose for it!

So Little Words Gifts was born. We are two friends embarking on a spare-time hobby. We spend our evenings and weekends tinkering with designs, trying to make them different than the minimal-effort, mass produced alternatives.

We enjoy what we do and enjoy tinkering with new designs. Many start from someone asking "can you do something like this?". We will always try and hopefully the ideas for new designs from our clients is endless!

Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalised orders
  • Perishable products (like food or flowers)
  • Digital downloads
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)

Returns and exchange details
I will work with you to design a perfect and unique gift but once the proof has been agreed by you no further changes can be made. If the item you receive does not match the proof you agreed then please contact me and I will resend the corrected print free of charge.

As with any personalised product there is a point of no return during the design process. This is the point at which you cannot make any changes without further charge because either it's physically too late (i.e it's been printed) or the redesign requires additional licencing costs or more than reasonable rework. I will make you aware throughout the process of the cut-off point. If you require changes AFTER this point then an additional charge will have to be applied and no refunds will be given.

I hold no stock of any items and therefore every order is made to order when you place it. Therefore i can only accept cancellations within 1 hour of your order. Items with any type of personalisation can be cancelled at the sellers discretion and a partial refund may be possible depending on the design work and/or printing already completed. With any cancellations or returns once dispatched the return costs to be borne by the buyer.
Delivery
USA Orders - Canvas prints for US delivery are printed and shipped within the US, and usually takes about 7 days. For all other products that are made in the UK, shipping takes 7-12 working days to the USA (and longer at peak times) - please bear this in mind when ordering. Royal Mail do not consider items lost until 25 working days after expected arrival so I am unable to make a claim for any such losses until after that. Sorry, but this is totally out of my control.

ALL Orders -

Unless you have contacted me and arranged for tracked shipping, all shipping is economy with NO tracking.

Whilst I will usually dispatch this within 24 your order (or agreeing a proof if required), please consider longer than usual delivery times at busy times of year.

Delivery costs are different depending on the format you choose for your print. Costs are listed on all item descriptions and need to be added as a shipping upgrade at checkout. For delivery outside the UK, any customs or import charges are the responsibility of the customer.

All items are posted by Royal Mail or USPS standard shipping - there is no tracking on this service.

- If you wish to upgrade your shipping to a tracked or recorded service please contact me with your location prior to making your purchase for a price.

- I am unable to track, refund or replace lost parcels if a tracked or recorded service was not purchased.

If an item is lost in transit I will assist in the filing of a claim with the relevant postal service BUT please note that I cannot process a refund or replacement until the postal service has completed its investigations and refunded me. This can be several weeks as most postal services do not allow you to file a claim for 30-90 days. This is out of my control I am afraid.
Privacy
This Privacy Policy describes how and when I collect, use, and share information when you purchase an item from me, contact me, or otherwise use my services through Etsy.com or its related sites and services.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to the practices of third parties that I do not own or control, including Etsy or any third party services you access through Etsy. You can reference the Etsy Privacy Policy to learn more about its privacy practices.

Information I Collect - To fulfil your order, you must provide me with certain information (which you authorised Etsy to provide to me), such as your name, email address, postal address, payment information, and the details of the product that you’re ordering. You may also choose to provide me with additional personal information for a custom order, through direct after-sale contact.

Why I Need Your Information and How I Use It - I rely on a number of legal bases to collect, use, and share your information, including:

- as needed to provide my services, such as when I use your information to fulfil your order, to settle disputes, or to provide customer support;
- when you have provided your affirmative consent, which you may revoke at any time
- if necessary to comply with a legal obligation or court order or in connection with a legal claim, such as retaining information about your purchases if required by tax law; and
as necessary for the purpose of my legitimate interests, if those legitimate interests are not overridden by your rights or interests, such as 1) providing and improving my services. I use your information to provide the services you requested and in my legitimate interest to improve my services; and 2) Compliance with the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use. I use your information as necessary to comply with my obligations under the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use.

Information Sharing and Disclosure - Information about my customers is important to my business. I share your personal information for very limited reasons and in limited circumstances, as follows:

- Etsy. I share information with Etsy as necessary to provide you my services and comply with my obligations under both the Etsy Seller Policy and Etsy Terms of Use.
- Service providers. I engage certain trusted third parties to perform functions and provide services to my shop, such as delivery and printing companies. I will share your personal information with these third parties, but only to the extent necessary to perform these services.
- Compliance with laws. I may collect, use, retain, and share your information if I have a good faith belief that it is reasonably necessary to: (a) respond to legal process or to government requests; (b) enforce my agreements, terms and policies; (c) prevent, investigate, and address fraud and other illegal activity, security, or technical issues; or (d) protect the rights, property, and safety of my customers, or others.

Data Retention - I retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide you with my services and as described in my Privacy Policy. However, I may also be required to retain this information to comply with my legal and regulatory obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce my agreements. I generally keep your data for the following time period: 4 years.

Transfers of Personal Information Outside the EU - I may store and process your information through third-party hosting services, and/or delivery and printing services in the US and other jurisdictions. As a result, I may transfer your personal information to a jurisdiction with different data protection and government surveillance laws than your jurisdiction.

Your Rights - If you reside in certain territories, including the EU, you have a number of rights in relation to your personal information. While some of these rights apply generally, certain rights apply only in certain limited cases. I describe these rights below:

- Access. You may have the right to access and receive a copy of the personal information I hold about you by contacting me using the contact information below.
- Change, restrict, delete. You may also have rights to change, restrict my use of, or delete your personal information. Absent exceptional circumstances (like where I am required to store data for legal reasons) I will generally delete your personal information upon request.

What is the shipping time?

Unless you contact me and purchase a faster shipping service, shipping usually takes:

IN THE UK - 3-5 working days
IN THE US - 3-5 working days for canvas prints (as they are printed in the US), 8-12 working days for other items.
EVERYWHERE ELSE - 7-15 working days depending on where you are

Please add additional delivery times at busy times of year.

Is tracking provided?

Tracking is NOT provided as standard on any shipping service. This can be added at additional cost if you contact me BEFORE it is shipped.

How long does it take to make?

Unless you purchase the EXPRESS DESIGN SERVICE, personalised items take around 4 working days to providing a proof (if appropriate). This does not include time for the client to send words/photos etc, or agree a proof.

Does the Express Design Service include faster shipping?

No. Express Design is for the DESIGN element only. Meaning you will jump to the top of the order queue and usually receive your proof same day or within 36 hours. This does NOT include time elapsed waiting for a client to send personalisation information or photos.

I can't see exactly what I want, can you help?

All items are designed by me. If there's something you have in mind but can't see it please ask - this is how many new designs are created!

Can I make changes/change my mind?

All items are made to order. Personalised items are customised entirely for you and will be totally unique. They also take time to make and amend. As such, any changes requested after the proof has been agreed will be chargeable at a minimum cost of £16 so please make sure you check the proof thoroughly before agreeing it.

If items have already been made, dispatched or been sent to print then a new item will need to be purchased.

Can I see my design before I order?

Personalisation of any item takes time. It may be possible for a new concept to be designed and shared as an example using generic text or photos.

However, payment for any custom, additional work, or rework is always required upfront. Work will not start on a personalised design until payment has been made

Do you send a proof before you print/send it?

Unless otherwise stated or the personalisation is very simple, such as a single name, a proof will always be sent to you via ETSY messages for you to approve before your design is finalised.

Please note that any delays in you responding to the proof will push back the dispatch time.

As you would expect, once you have agreed the proof no further changes can be made - you will need to reorder a new item.

I didn't see your message/proof and now it's going to arrive too late - can I have a refund?

Sadly no. I have tried to make it as clear as possible in each listing and FAQ that messages and proofs will be sent via ETSY messages and/or email. If I have contacted you through these methods I cannot be responsible for delays due to you not seeing the messages, turning off ETSY notifications or that they end up in your junk mail. Sorry.

My order has not arrived in time for when I needed it. Can I have a refund?

Sadly no. I am careful not to make any guarantees with regards to shipping. I will ship in good faith using the guidelines issued by the shipping carrier. There are all sorts of delays relating to busy times of year, industrial action and customs. The only way to mitigate these delays is to order in good time - particularly at busy times of the year.
