About

Clay + Jewellery = Losa Lou Jewellery

Several years ago I approached a shop to sell an earring range but the owner kindly told me I needed a fuller range, preferably with necklaces. At the time I was taking pottery classes, with the aim of producing the ultimate noodle bowl! So I started experimenting, making clay pendants. The owner loved them, I got in the shop and the rest is history…

Well not quite, it was just the beginning. In reality it’s a continuous process of learning, experimenting, designing and creating… which I love!

My jewellery techniques are, for the most part self-taught. I tried to learning silversmithing but found the danger of fire and saws, just not my thing. So my jewellery pieces are mainly coiled, where necessary. The ear fittings and hooks I use, are all sterling silver or rose gold vermeil, in case you have any allergies.

For the clay elements I wanted to produce something which had more finesse, while still being sturdy and so I only use a glacier porcelain. This also creates a great base for colouring my clay, which I do myself, masochist. Patterns are made in small batches, so each piece will always be part of a limited range. Even within that range no two pieces will be the same! Truly unique.
