Hello and welcome to The Old Baby Pattern Company!

This shop used to be called LouiseAlicePatterns, but I recently decided to split my shop in two. This shop, aims to be a one stop shop for vintage baby & children's knits. We will have original vintage patterns from the 40s to the 90s, as well as PDF's of any rare copyright patterns I find.

I put a LOT of effort into my PDF pattern reproductions, just like at Knockout Vintage; I spend hours restoring and reformatting each page into a printer friendly, paper white, easy to read pattern that I hope you will absolutely love. I also spend hours researching the copyright history of each pattern to make sure I'm allowed to sell it, unlike some other sellers, wink wink ;).

I decided to turn my old shop into the baby/ childrens section of my shop split up plan thingy, as I know so many of my customers love baby knits. They were always my best sellers and I hope you will enjoy all the patterns I'll be adding to my shop this year. If you are looking for adult patterns, please head over to my brand new shop Knockout Patterns where I have adult patterns from all decades.

Frequently asked questions

Are the vintage knitting patterns in your shop originals or copies? Can I buy a PDF of the original pattern instead?

The knitting patterns in my shop are all 100% original vintage patterns. No copies or pdfs are being sold here. To my knowledge every pattern I have in stock at the moment is still under copyright protection. Therefore I will not be selling any copies at all, as it would be illegal for me to do so.

I do plan to one day sell remastered PDFs of 30s and 40s out of copyright patterns.

How much does domestic shipping cost?

At the moment domestic shipping costs a flat rate of £1.75. So no matter how many patterns you order, it will cost £1.75.

Do you offer international shipping? How much does it cost?

I ship worldwide! Costs will typically range from £3.80 to £5.10 depending on how far away you live. I use Royal Mail International Standard shipping. Royal Mail says this service takes 1-2 weeks to arrive but unfortunately it can sometimes take up to six weeks due to customs.

My international shipping costs are a flat rate. I've tried to keep shipping as low as possible for most people, but unfortunately the flat rate won't cover everyone. If you place a large order that weighs more than 500g (It takes a lot of patterns to reach this) I may have to cancel your order and send you a shipping quote depending on the value of your order. If the extra cost of delivery doesn't eat into the profit too much, I'll mostly leave it as the flat rate.

My order didn't arrive? What should I do?

Please allow up to 10 days for domestic and 6 weeks for international delivery, I know it's a long time but they do usually show up by then. If not, I'll give you a full refund.

I am unable to refund orders lost due to an incorrect address.

If your order has taken more than 5 days in the UK, or 3 weeks internationally. Please contact me and let me know if you can.

If its delayed at customs, please research your countries laws regarding tax and imports. You may have to pay tax and a handling fee. This money will go to your government.

Do you accept returns?

I'm more than happy to accept returns! Just contact me within 14 days of delivery, and send it back to me within 30 days of delivery.

I will not cover postage costs. This is because my items are only worth £2-£3 each and if I were to pay for return postage costs I wouldn't make any money from that individual pattern at all.

Do you accept cancellations?

I do not accept cancellations. This is because I package orders as soon as they are received and ship them the same day.

My pattern(s) arrived damaged? What should I do?

I package my products as well as I possibly can but I do apologise if your pattern arrives damaged. Please contact me as soon as you get it and I will do my best to fix the problem for you.

I'd like to remind you that the patterns I sell are vintage and used. Some of them will have small stains, tears and damage to the corners or spine. I take great care to describe all of the damage in the listing. I will not sell any pattern that has more than a few minor flaws and the level of damage will always be reflected in the price. Please read the listing! I don't want anybody to be disappointed that their order has arrived in the condition I described in the listing.

What happens if i accidentally supply the wrong address?

It is the buyers responsibility to ensure that the shipping address is correct.

Contact me as soon as you realise. If your order hasn't been dispatched yet I will update the address and post to the correct one.

If it has already been dispatched, I will post it to you if it gets sent back to me. If not, I am not liable to give you a refund as it is not my fault.
