My new range of Harris Tweed Button Brooches, all made from upcycled materials. I love that Harris Tweed is made in so many colours!

About

Textile Jewellery handmade using British and upcycled materials

Hi, I'm Louise, welcome to Louise Dawson Design!

I first started working with recycled materials as a student, creating large scale installations combining my love of knit and recycled materials. When I graduated in 2008 I wanted to create recycled pieces that would be accessible to all and so Louise Dawson Design Jewellery was born!

I am also passionate about working with British materials and therefore beautiful British materials such as Harris Tweed, Tartan and Shetland wools feature heavily in my range of Knitted and Fabric Button Brooches and Rings. All the materials I use are upcycled from offcuts from the garment industry, clothing and even curtains and upholstery fabrics. Even the smallest scraps don't go to waste. I love the challenge of breathing new life into materials that were destined to be thrown away, recreating them as beautiful unique jewellery pieces to be treasured forever.

I live in a small riverside town in the Essex countryside and when I'm not making jewellery I'm writing craft How Tos and sharing sneak peeks behind the scenes on my blog at louisedawsondesign.com, always accompanied by a cup of Earl Grey tea and ideally a slice of cake!
