Owner, creator, designer & maker of Mabel Irene & Fansia Tickle.

My love of burlesque, dressing up, glam, sparkle, glitter & crafts are combined to make one of a kind, unique and individual headpieces, jewellery, bouquets & lots of other accessories. Fansia Tickle (cheekily pronounced 'Fancy a tickle') was originally born as a stage name for my burlesque alter ego. She was never really a performer but absolutely adored the glitz, glam and 'show' of the costumes and design. So, Fansia Tickle decided to stick around backstage and began creating headpieces. The designs are quirky, eclectic and unique.

Mabel Irene loves vintage, shabby chic, soft pastels, summer evenings and smells of fresh cut grass. The handmade items from the Mabel Irene range reflects this and is full of love.

Because I love...

So, one day I found myself learning to pole dance! It was my sister-in-law's hen party and she'd arranged for us to enjoy an afternoon of pole dancing. It was brilliant fun - this was about 14 years ago now. This new found love developed into an obsession with Burlesque. I adored the costumes and headpieces especially.
I'd always enjoyed making my own accessories out of whatever I could find so I started to make my own outfits for the burlesque shows.
Fanisa Tickle was my alter ego! She wanted to perform, she wanted the lights,camera, action and razzle dazzle of the stage... But the truth was, she wasn't a natural performer and was actually quite shy. Blushing uncontrollably on stage and smiling so hard that the lines and double chin were emphasised more than normal, not a good look in photo's!
Anyway, I decided that Fansia Tickle needed to stay alive and so she began creating for friend's and family. This developed into part of the Etsy store that you see today.

Mabel Irene is the name of my grandmother. Sadly she is no longer on this earth but I decided to make her name live on. I adore vintage, chic, lace, feathers and feminine pretty (it doesn't suit me to wear it, but that doesn't stop me loving it right!?)

Mabel Irene and Fansia Tickle are now merged together in their own wonderful, fancy, Etsy shop.
