I added this stylised design for the more contemporary interior inspired by American artist Charlie Harper to my Etsy shop this week. Taken from my original batik painting it is called 'Ladybirds in the Jewel Garden', part of my English Garden range.
This lovely fine art limited edition giclee print of two bumbling badgers foraging for food amongst the bluebells in English woodland has just been added to my shop. The original batik painting it is taken from is still available for sale.
This lovely seagull image taken from an original batik painting is inspired by my love of the coast in Pembrokeshire and North Wales here in the UK. I have just updated the listing of one of my best selling images with some new photos.

About

About Me

I am based in Malvern, Worcestershire, and have been trading since 2007. I have a foundation in graphic design with a Degree from Norths Staffordshire Poly (now Uni) in Multi Disciplinary design. I have passion for British wildlife, in particular, birds, butterflies wild flowers and insects. My main discipline is batik, the ancient Indonesian art-form of layering melted wax and water based dyes on cotton to create delicate and exquisite designs.

I come from a family of horticulturists, gardeners, bird watchers and keen walkers where my back garden ranged from fruit orchards to the Cotswold hills, where I spent a large part of my childhood. My Art Cabin is situated in the grounds of Caves Folly Organic plant Nursery where I am surrounded by inspiration. I am constantly drawing and observing what is around me and I regularly walk in the AONB Malvern hills. I also have a love of the coast and the birds that visit; puffins, gannets, oystercatchers, terns, curlews and sandpipers.

Recently I have started running batik and birdwatching holidays in southern Portugal where European bee eaters and golden oriels became the subject of my batiks.

My batik work is created in exquisite detail, at times carefully controlling the flowing hot wax, to create the wing of a bumble bee and at times allowing it just to flow. My designs are a mixture of well observed subjects in stylised and contemporary environments, rich in colour and contrast.

I sell work directly to the public through my online shop, directly at shows and through a small network of galleries. I am a member of the Worcester Guild of Designer Craftsmen. Since 2003 I have been running Eekbatik, a dynamic business taking batik workshops into 100's of schools all over the country.

Frequently asked questions
What is a giclee print?

A giclée is a digital high resolution print providing a look and feel similar to that of original artwork. Prints are available on original artists materials such as watercolour paper and canvas. Fine Art reproduction has been revolutionised with the giclée printing process due to the exceptional results it produces. The brilliant colour, sharp definition, and tone give a visual quality, which is eye-catching and captures the characteristics of the original artwork.

I produce giclee prints of my original batiks on 2 types of paper. My small prints are printed on 230gm acid free paper. My large and extra large prints are printed on 280gsm archival cotton rag acid free paper. All prints use 12 pigment inks and are UV fade resistant quality.

When will you ship my order?

Different products will have different shipping times - cards for example will generally be in stock and can be shipped within 1 to 2 business days, prints on the other hand may be in stock and sent in the same time or they may need to be reprinted as less stock is carried.
