I've recently learned how to sew in an attempt to make clothes that actually fit my body. Unfortunately, the majority of the patterns I've tried do not fit my body at all and I'm still too new to truly understand how to properly fit the pattern. But Marilla Walker has changed that! I've just finished sewing up the Roberts collection top (view D) and it's an absolutely PERFECT fit. I am absolutely thrilled! The shoulders fit my shoulders perfectly. More than anything, there isn't any billowy-ness in the lower back which has been a problem in 100% of the patterns I've sewn to date except for this one. It's not too snug in the underarms which has also been a reoccurring issue- perfectly comfortable. Can you tell I'm in love?? :) I can't wait to sew up more Marilla Walker patterns! Thank you so much Marilla!!

About

Why I opened a shop!

I started my shop, because I wanted to be able to share my passion for design and create a product that is good quality and sustainable!

I have worked in most aspects production in one way or another from the manufacturing to dealing with suppliers as well as being on the side of the supplier, so hopefully have finally amassed enough experience to have my own little business.

I design good quality women's dress making patterns that are based on garments that I would want to wear myself and are inspired by minimalist clothing from Japan and Scandinavia. There is also a Central American influence in there somewhere, which I hope comes through also!

The product I am selling is a PDF download only. I hope to be able to offer a paper version too eventually, but this depends on the initial success of the digital product. I endeavour to layout my pattern on as few pieces of paper as possible in the hope of conserving paper and your printer ink!

If you are not familiar with digital dress making patterns then here is a brief description of what you are buying. It is a PDF file that you are sent via email upon purchase, which you then print at home onto A4 and piece together yourself with tape or glue. The print layout for piecing your pattern should be straight forward to follow and you can either use this taped pattern to cut your fabric or trace onto a pattern paper or grease proof paper as you might normally choose to do. Advice on printing your pattern is included in your instructions.

Hi I'm Marilla and I design women's dress making patterns. I studied Fashion/Textile design in Bristol (UK) and graduated in 2007. Since then I have continued to draft patterns, which I have now turned into a product that I hope you will enjoy!
