About MaxwellHarrison

Sales 984
On Etsy since 2015

“Love what you do and do what you love." - Ray Bradbury

I create limited runs and one-off pieces of my own jewellery designs, all handmade in Sheffield, England. The city is home to one of the UK's four assay offices and has an established tradition of silverware production. Sheffield also has a great reputation for championing the creative industries and supporting indie businesses.

My shop name, Maxwell Harrison, is a combination of my maiden and married surnames, totally appropriate for a business name where I AM the business. I'm the designer, maker, material buyer, photographer, book-keeper, salesperson, customer service assistant and order packer. Every time you contact Maxwell Harrison, you'll be in touch with me personally, no matter what your query is.

Shop members

  • Jayne Harrison

    Owner, Designer, Creator

Hi! My name is Jayne, and I am Maxwell Harrison Jewellery. I'm responsible for all aspects of the company including design, fabrication, photography, order fulfillment, shop management and customer service.

Production partners

  • A laser cutter

    Chesterfield, England

The cork bottoms of my concrete jewellery storage products are laser cut for me by this production partner, to ensure clean, precise and consistent cuts.

  • Enamel pin manufacturer

    Leeds, England

This manufacturer makes the enamel pins to my design and specification

  • A casting company

    Newcastle-under-Lyme, England

This company casts my designs and wax models in precious metals. These are often small components that I then use to make larger, more complex pieces.

Frequently asked questions
Is all of your jewellery hallmarked?

Most of my smaller jewellery pieces are under the exemption weight for silver (7.78 grams) and therefore not hallmarked, but can be upon request. All gold jewellery (no matter what the weight is) and silver pieces weighing 7.78 grams or more will have been hallmarked before being put up for sale on Etsy, and this will be clearly stated in the item's listing.

The jewellery I bought from you is tarnished/going black! Is this normal?

Tarnishing is a natural process, not a fault with the jewellery. All sterling silver jewellery will tarnish over time, but is often accelerated by contact with things such as acidic skin pH, make-up, perfume, hairspray, cleaning products, salty air, chlorine, body creams/lotions etc. Reducing your jewellery's exposure to these things, storing it carefully and cleaning it regularly will help to keep it looking its best.

How can I clean my jewellery?

Regularly using a polishing cloth designed especially for jewellery will help to prevent your piece from tarnishing. It may also benefit from an occasional wash in warm, soapy water with a soft, non-scratch brush. If heavy tarnish has built up, you may need to use a specialist jewellery cleaner. Please check the label on such products before purchasing to ensure that they are suitable, particularly if your jewellery is set with pearls or gemstones.

How should I store my jewellery?

Keep your jewellery in a tarnish-resistant pouch or a lined jewellery box, away from direct sunlight, moisture and heat. I do recommend that you take it off when bathing, showering or sleeping. For your own safety, you may wish to remove it when exercising too.

Your international shipping is expensive!

Please be assured that shipping prices are not inflated in any way and reflect the cost to send via the UK postal system, Royal Mail. Although jewellery packages may be small, they often require the purchase of insured delivery due to their value. Tracking, insurance and signed for servies don't come as standard in the UK postal system - there is an additional cost for these on top of the price of postage.
