About

For The Love of Molten Silver

Growing up, I was surrounded by hand crafted and home made, thanks to my lovely mum’s creative talents. I absorbed this love of creating and I've been making all manner of things for as long as I can remember. Despite a love of jewellery though, I'd only ever dabbled in beading, making a few pendants and my own wedding tiara.

Then a few years ago, I signed up for a silver jewellery course and was immediately hooked. I loved everything about the silversmithing process and creating something beautiful from unpromising looking silver sheet, or wire.

Last summer, I was lucky enough to have my talented partner build and kit out a tiny wooden workshop for me, fondly named the Purple Palace.

From very early in my silver journey, I was completely entranced by the techniques that involve melting silver to produce surface texture, free-form cast, or fuse, all creating organic form and texture found in the natural landscape.

Always a lover of the natural world, these techniques were the perfect fit for me and the idea for Molten Silver was born.

    Owner, Maker, Photographer

Hi, I'm Lisa, maker of all of the jewellery at Molten Silver, based in a tiny garden workshop, in Berkshire, in the UK. I live together with my funny son, eccentric father and our mad cat Madame Meowski.

Technical Consultant, Workshop Builder & Fitter, Maintenance Manager

My lovely, but long suffering partner. An engineer by trade, who patiently resolves all of my many building, technical, tools and maintenance requirements, issues, questions, dilemmas, disasters....

  • Madame Meowski

    Assistant

Madame Meowski keeps me company and 'helps out' in the workshop. Her self-imposed duties are draping herself around my neck to keep me warm and chewing on plier handles, as seen here, to give them more grip. Favourite snack - cucumber - really!

Frequently asked questions
Care instructions

All Molten Silver jewellery is made from 925 sterling silver, which naturally tarnishes over time, when exposed to the air or chemicals. Wearing silver jewellery regularly does seem to help slow down this process, as does polishing it with a silver polishing cloth (avoid silver dips, or abrasive cleaners) and in between wear storing each piece separately in a soft bag, or jewellery box to avoid scratches and reduce exposure to the air. Always remove silver jewellery when showering, bathing, swimming, applying hair and body products, or when using cleaning products and chemicals. Silver is a soft metal, which can scratch, or bend when placed under undue stress, so avoid wearing it during sports or undertaking heavy work.

Hallmarking

All of my silver jewellery weighing above 7.78g will be hallmarked, by one of the UK Assay Offices, to comply with the UK legislation. Whilst I do not hallmark my jewellery below this weight, I only use 925 sterling silver, supplied by a reputable and long established UK bullion dealer.

Gift wrapping and packaging

All jewellery purchases will be gift boxed as shown within the item listing photos and posted in a padded mailing envelope. Gift wrapping can be purchased via the shopping cart and a free gift message can be added.

Guarantee & Repairs

Whilst I personally quality check all of the jewellery I produce to ensure that it will withstand normal wear (see Care Instructions FAQ), as an added reassurance, I also guarantee all of my jewellery against defects in the manufacturing process, for one year from the date of receipt. (N.B. this does not include wear and tear, such as scratches, tarnishing, or bending, or accidents). Please contact me to discuss any issues.

Should an item become damaged through wear and tear, or accident however, please do get it touch and I will be happy to establish whether the item can be repaired. If so, I will offer repairs to my own work at the lowest possible cost.
