Announcement    Not wanting to bore you with the details but between now and Christmas there is a huge long list of Royal Mail strikes. The posties were amazing for all our small businesses during lockdown and I totally respect their requests for better pay and conditions.
However...the effect on small businesses is huge. Already under pressure to provide excellent customer service as we head towards Christmas it makes it even harder. Dispatch times won’t change but it might take longer for your post to arrive or your favourite seller might be trying alternative couriers etc which as we all know are sometimes less than ideal!
This has been a tough year for small independent businesses and for many this season will be make or break for them.
So please shop early. Be mindful that delivery is largely beyond their control. Your items are not sitting in an Amazon warehouse and there is no order for delivery before 10pm tonight. What you do get is something special, made for you, packaged with care and a little bit of love.
Whilst waiting for your post please be patient and be kind. Small businesses work incredibly hard and will always be doing their best! ❤️

Latest Royal Mail Postal strikes are planned for throughout their whole operation:
30 Sept;
1, 13, 20, 25 Oct;
2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, 14, 15, 16, 23, 24, 15, 28, 30 Nov;
1, 2 Dec.

Special Delivery items will still be delivered according to the Royal Mail website. I am offering this service for a discounted additional amount of £2.50 (usually £4).

Please bear this in mind when ordering…thank you 😊

Last postal dates from me will be Friday 16th Dec to ensure delivery before Christmas.

🌿 Eco-friendly packaging, which is either recyclable or reusable - even the packaging tape is plastic free.
📮UK P&P INCLUDED - Royal Mail 1st Class Signed.
📮Sent in a postal box to fit through your letterbox, so you don't need to be in.
📮UK POSTAGE UPGRADE:
There is now the option to upgrade to Royal Mail’s ‘Special Delivery’ Express service at checkout, for a small additional charge, should you wish to choose an expedited method of shipping.

** DELIVERY WITHIN THE UK ONLY **

About NashiraJewellery

On Etsy since 2014

Handcrafted unique jewellery specialising in sterling & pure silver, gold, sea glass and gemstones

Hi, my name is Sharon and I am the founder and crafter at ‘Nashira Jewellery’.

I am a self-employed artisan jewellery maker and designer, currently living on the south coast of England with my partner and Dobermann Rosie.

I left the world of office work seven years ago, after 25 years sitting behind a typewriter back in the 80’s and then a computer more recently.

I began making jewellery many years ago as a hobby, originally starting with bead stringing and wirework to create things for myself and gifts for friends and family. More recently I expanded my techniques and skills to incorporate metalsmithing into my work. This gives me much greater flexibility in my designs and has opened up a whole new world of creative possibility. In particular it allows me to combine my love of creating jewellery with another of my hobbies; collecting sea glass.

I have always loved the sea and am lucky enough to have lived in Dorset on the coast all my life. I regularly enjoy walks along the beach with Rosie, combing for treasure and picking up sea glass, shells and random bits of driftwood.

I have always loved jewellery, especially rings.

Using my rolling mill is my favourite technique. The rolling mill technique is where sheet silver is passed through the mill with textured paper to give a pattern “engraved” on the precious metal. The effects are fantastic!

I have a little workshop at home where I spend as much time as I can. It’s my happy place. The hours whizz by and at the end of the day I don’t want to leave my little space.

Most pieces will be a one off as with all handmade items, you can never re-create something identical. Having said that I can recreate some items such as the bangles as they have less detail on them.

Why buy handmade?

Handmade products are great for the environment. Most handmade products do not require a factory or large production facility. Instead, nearly all are made in small craft studios and workshops, the transformed shed at the bottom of the garden, or people’s own homes.

Handmade is often very local, so it doesn’t travel hundreds and thousands of miles to get to you. When you order from Nashira Jewellery, you know that your handmade order is coming from within the UK and it’s made here in the UK too!

Thank you for taking the time to visit my Etsy shop! If you are interested in knowing more, then please also check out my website and social media pages using the links, and if you have any questions, comments or feedback please get in touch.

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalised orders

I have a selection of made to order items such as bangles & the wave necklace.

The bangles will need testing and hallmarking at the Assay Office therefore will take approximately 3-4 weeks.

I will always try to reduce this timeframe.

The wave necklace for example only needs a 925 stamp which can be hand-stamped by myself. This is due to the fact that it weighs less than 7.78g which is the legal weight requirement. The processing time for this is 1-2 weeks.

Gift wrapping and packaging

All my items are popped inside a re-usable hessian or linen gift bag and then wrapped in Eco-Friendly recyclable tissue paper.

All items are sent inside a Recyclable Postal Box (size C6) via Royal Mail 1st class Tracked/Signed For. This box should fit through a standard letter box. The labels and sellotape are recyclable & plastic free.

There is the option to choose Royal Mail Special Delivery for a more expedited form of delivery, for a small additional charge.

Delivery is within the UK only currently.

Seaglass

Each piece of sea glass I use is authentic, genuine sea glass - most of which has been personally collected by me from the beaches near my home in Dorset

Sea glass is broadly defined as glass which has been discarded into the oceans or on beaches, thereafter spending many decades being gently tumbled by the waves. This gives it the characteristic smooth edges and beautiful frosted appearance which defines it

The quality and colour of each piece determines its rarity and subsequent value, and this will be described in the sale listing and if relevant reflected in the price. I will always try to show the colour as accurately as possible in images

All glass is washed & checked for any sharp or rough edges prior to being used, then oiled

What materials do I use?

I mainly work with 925 sterling silver, 999 pure silver & 9ct gold but also use 14ct gold filled chains and findings. Gold filled jewellery is a more affordable way to wear something gold.

In addition to sterling silver & gold, I use a variety of other components and beads including cultured pearls, Swarovski Crystals and Gemstones & Sea Glass.

The quality and value of all semi-precious stones can vary greatly, and this will be reflected in the price on each piece.

All silver & gold components are bought within the UK from a well-known reputable company.

Beads, crystals and gemstones are sourced as local to me as possible but sometimes the gemstones come from further afield.

One of a kind?

Every item I make is handcrafted by me to my own designs. Due to the nature of the materials and techniques used, most pieces are unique and 'one of a kind', especially when featuring sea glass or other natural materials

The plain bangles can be repeated fairly easily, however any texture added to them such as hammering will always be slightly different due to the nature of the texture & method of applying the detail.

Postage/Despatch

WITHIN UK ONLY:
All jewellery is sent out via Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For service with proof of postage obtained.

You can upgrade to Royal Mail’s Special Delivery for an additional £4 at checkout for a more expedited service

I will post your order out within 1 business day. If your order is received before 1pm, I can usually post it the same day.

Is handmade unique?

Yes! Absolutely!

Unlike gifts that are mass-produced, you will often find unique differences in each handmade item, which really makes the product and the purchase very special. Nobody in the whole world will have exactly the same item, and that’s pretty unique!

Supporting small UK businesses

When you buy a product from Nashira Jewellery, you are directly support a UK based artist. Although it may not be directly local to you, the money stays in the UK, and that’s a pretty big deal. Instead of your money going to large international companies where the maker or designer receives a fraction of the product price, it goes directly to the person who made your wonderful gift.

But it’s not just about money. Each purchase, gives the artist, the maker, the crafts person a confidence in their product, chance to develop their skills further, opportunity to re-invest the money back to their business and carry on producing beautiful works of art.
