Announcement   My name is Su and my artwork very much reflects my love of nature. My natural history paintings, drawings and pet portraits are highly-detailed and portrayed using a variety of media including: pencil, oil, pastel and gouache.

I have been working as a self-taught professional Wildlife Artist since 1989 and have also been a keen naturalist and conservationist for many years. Whilst combining my love of 'Wildlife and Art', I also support Wildlife Conservation Societies through my artwork.

I have exhibited artwork at a number of galleries including the London Zoological Society; whilst working with the Orangutan Foundation, and the Society of Wildlife Artists Exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London. My paintings, drawings, artwork and fine art prints can also be found in private collections throughout the U.K, and in many countries around the world.

I have always wished to illustrate a natural history publication and my wish was realised when I was invited to provide drawings for two Wolf Conservation books. I have also written for, and had artwork published in a number of well-known magazines and was also recently invited to produce artwork for a wildlife conservation film.

I have a lovely four-legged furry friend and enjoy many interests. As a Registered Bat Carer, I also rescue and care for bats in order for them to be released back into the wild.

Working from my lovely Larmer Tree Studio situated in the beautiful Larmer Tree Gardens, Tollard Royal, Wiltshire, I produce my own archival fine art prints, greetings cards plus a range of coasters from my original paintings and drawings. My artworks include: mammals, birds, pet portraits, landscapes and botanical subjects. Prints, cards, coasters, scented palm-oil free soaps and assorted gifts are available from my on-line Gallery and Larmer Tree Studio.

Combining my love of wildlife and art; I have been fortunate to realise a lifelong dream. If you are in the area please feel free to pop by and say HI!

Thank you for your interest.

This was sent as a gift to a friend - I don't know what he thought yet (suspect he hasn't opened it yet - birthday this weekend), but service was prompt and messages clear and helpful. When I hear I will let you know more...

The wolf coasters artwork is brilliant and they look impressive on my table. The coasters arrived in a snazzy black box with silver writing. They were well packaged and prompt delivery too.

About

Larmer Tree Studio ~ www.natureinart.com

Since childhood, Susan Shimeld has been fascinated by wildlife and enjoyed drawing the plants and animals around her.

At 19 years of age, she noticed a small advertisement in a Nature magazine; regarding the whaling industry. She contacted the newly-formed group called 'Greenpeace' and so began her journey into conservation.

In 1977, Friends of the Earth opened an office in Dorset, and having studied Secretarial and Business Studies at college, Su offered her services and worked for the group on a voluntary basis. She became Wildlife Co-ordinater for the group and amidst her many duties, continued to sketch and draw; often providing wildlife illustrations for the local FOE magazine.

In 1980, Su was delighted when her wish to move to the countryside with her daughter Katie, became a reality. She has since spent many blissful hours walking through woods and sketching the items collected for her nature table. On many occasions she has also found herself in the company of various forms of wildlife...precious moments that she will always treasure.

During 1989, Su moved to Larmer Tree Studio in the village of Tollard Royal, and began to establish her reputation as a self-employed Wildlife and Pet Portrait artist. Whilst combining her love of 'Wildlife and Art', Su supports Wildlife Conservation Societies through her artwork; and her art very much reflects her love of nature. Her natural history paintings, drawings and pet portraits are highly-detailed and portrayed using a variety of media including: pencil, oil, pastel and gouache.

Situated in the middle of Cranborne Chase and surrounded by woodland walks and stunning scenery, Su still feels extremely privileged at being able to live and work in such beautiful surroundings.

Susan has exhibited her artwork at a number of galleries including the London Zoological Society; whilst working with the Orangutan Foundation, and the Society of Wildlife Artists Exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London. Her paintings, drawings, artwork and fine art prints can also be found in private collections throughout the U.K, and in many countries around the world.

Su enjoys the companionship of a furry four-legged friend, and has many other interests including working as a Registered Bat Carer. She rescues and cares for bats in order for them to be released back into the wild.

Working from her lovely Larmer Tree Studio situated in the beautiful Larmer Tree Gardens, Tollard Royal, Wiltshire, Su produces her own archival fine art prints, greetings cards plus a range of coasters from her original paintings and drawings. I have worked for and been a keen conservationist for 40 yrs. My artwork and coasters also help selected charities + conservation groups. It was important to find the most economical, environmentally friendly way of producing good quality coasters.
