Making things better for Planet A

Nyenganyenga /nyenga nyenga/ is the Shona word for a swallow. Shona is a language spoken in southern Africa. Swallows migrate between northern Europe and southern Africa and so they represent the environments that inspire my work.

At Nyenganyenga Art and Design it matters to:

1 think globally, and act locally
2 continuously learn more about our human impact on our earth as a whole
3 strive to create products that support greener, more sustainable living
4 strive for a kinder, more caring and fairer society.

  • Binga Craft Centre

    Binga, Zimbabwe

Binga Craft Centre is in Binga, in the Binga District, in the north west of Zimbabwe. It is remote and hard to reach because the roads are very poor. The centre was set up to facilitate the sale of the renowned baskets and carved stools made by BaTonga people who live in the area.

  • Supporting women in Zimbabwe, supporting Aids orphans

    Zimbabwe

The Zienzele Foundation was set up by Prisca Nemapere with the support of Nancy Clark from the USA. The Foundation has 36 women’s groups making baskets, growing vegetables and sewing school uniforms. The basket sales enable children orphaned by HIV Aids to go to school.
