About

Sewing for Pleasure.

I've been sewing since I was 8, I had the best dressed dolls and teddies around! I then progressed to me and was given my first sewing machine at 18 - even made my own wedding dress, although half way through wondered why I hadn't just bought one!

After living abroad for 14 years and having two boys we came back to England to a house - we had been in hotels as that was my husband's job, so now my sewing focus changed to curtains and cushions etc.

I then joined a local Country Market to sell plants that I was propagating for our garden and couldn't bear to throw away when I had too many!! They also had a craft section, and as I had continued to buy fabrics I started sewing for there too, and it was through one of the other craft producers that I learnt about Etsy.

I find sewing feeds my creative side, and I get so much pleasure from seeing an item emerge from my head, working out the pattern, and then sewing it. I think that's why I don't like to make lots of the same thing at one time as the pleasure is lost and it becomes a chore. I also love to buy 'pretty' fabrics in beautiful colours - living in a totally male house does not allow for much 'prettiness', and even though the boys have left now some things are not allowed to change!! I still get a thrill when someone buys one of my items and I post it off to its new home somewhere in the world!
