About OxfordKitchenYarns
Hand painted British yarns in a small Oxford kitchen.
OxfordKitchenYarns is where my love of wool and my love of colour meet. I've been a professional dyer since 2007 but switched from natural dyes to acid dyes in 2016.
I use British grown yarn to make sure my work is both local and sustainable and I still don't have a set colour pallet after 11 years, (if anything, moving to acid dyes has made the chance of a set colour pallet even less likely - there are too many new colour combination to explore, to get tied down to set colours.) Most skeins are one of a kind, and due to the nature of the dye process are impossible to reproduce to match at a later date.
I specialise in yarns for one skein projects, as well as multi skein, multi colour projects, such as fade work.
I live in Oxford with my family, and dyeing yarn fills the liminal space around home educating my three children. Both these vocations bring me great joy.

Hello! My name is Katie and I've been dyeing and selling yarn since 2007. I have three children, and a husband and we are a home educating family, which means we've got pretty good at hanging out with each other, exploring places and buying books.
