5 out of 5 starsA Lovely bear, very well made and was a custom order so Michelle made her to my preferences. Made with traditional stuffing of wood wool and aged appearance with a musical box just as I wanted. Michelle was lovely and the overall bear was just what I had wanted.

Michelle did a custom order for me to match another pocket bear that i had purchased and the result is really lovely and superb. Many thanks Michelle, I will be back for more!

About Padfieldbears
Fluffy stuff
I was the kid who was always making stuff, inventing stories and colouring in. It was easy to be creative. My home town was a mill town and the market stalls were heavy with wonderful textiles at roll end prices. My Mum knitted, crocheted and made clothes and my Dad liked to build stuff from his own designs. We were the only house on our street that had a purple curved sofa and lime green velvet curtains downstairs and shag pile carpets upstairs (well it was the 70’s).
Then I grew up. Nothing much has changed. I am still thrilled by the smell of wool and the feel of fabrics. I get giddy when nosing through button boxes and get over excited by the colours and textures of lichen growing on a dry stonewall.
My working process I think is typical of a lot of crafters and involves industrious adrenalin highs, insecure lows and occasionally a happy medium. Bears are such joyful beings and I can’t say how they develop or whom they want to be. I am a self-taught bear maker and enjoy learning as I go. Ideas are drafted into paper patterns and then sewn into fabric mock-ups, followed by a see saw period of adjusting/remaking until I am satisfied. There is an endearing magic that comes along with a bear if you allow yourself to enjoy it - ‘A bit of what you fancy does you good’ as my granddad Peach use to say.

I know how exciting it is waiting for a new parcel! With this in mind I always try to post out as soon as payment has cleared in my account on the same or next day where ever possible.
All bears are sent via a tracked and signed for service as quickly as is reasonably affordable. If you need a bear for a particular date please let me know in advance to avoid any disappointment. Please make sure that your Etsy, Paypal, or credit card address is correct at time of payment as this is the address that your bear will be posted to and sadly due to recent scams I can not send your bear to a different address or to a post office box.
It is a little difficult to estimate combined postage for bears travelling together as my bears are all shapes and sizes so please message me so I can offer you the lowest price and be assured I am not trying to make any money from posting costs.
If a package is held up in a back log at customs or by bad weather this is out of my control and I can not be held responsible for these kind of delays. All bears are sent securely packaged and clearly labeled inside and out.
Additional policies and FAQs
Please note bears sold to countries outside the UK may be subjected to import taxes or duties. As I am trading as Padfield bears I can not send parcels marked as ‘gifts’ or under value to avoid payment of such. You as the buyer are responsible to pay these to your government on top of any monies you have paid to me. Parcels may be opened by customs at any point of their journey to you, so I have to pack your bear with this in mind and abide by any restrictions of goods.
All of the Padfield gang are created by hand from my own patterns at home in my UK studio.
I often get asked if I undertake commissions and the answer is 'sort of/sometimes'. My creativity can be undisciplined, a new idea taking over before I know it. I usually work on several bears at once and occasionally it may take over a year to feel happy that a bear is ready for the world. Some bears come easy others take time to think about at different stages. I don't replicate bears unless they are twins made together and bears for me develop according to their own plan and I am just the help :-)
So if you really like a particular one of the Padfield gang and are no hurry drop me a message and we can take it from there.
