5 out of 5 starsI have been sewing for over 55 years and have never been more pleased with a sewing pattern. The instructions are very well written with attention to detail that makes the finished product look very professional. A great pattern! I will be purchasing more from this company.

5 out of 5 starsMy new favorite dress & dress pattern! I couldn’t get the rouleau to turn, so ended up doing my own version. There were a few steps I feel could have been clearer, but overall wonderful pattern & fit. Will make again and again.

5 out of 5 starsI love this pattern! I’ve only made tops out of view A though and not a whole dress but it comes out super cute and the video makes it so easy to follow along. I just wish there was a video for the view B top. Please consider making one.

4 out of 5 starsWhat an adorable little dress! I learned so much sewing it, too. The creator behind this adorable pattern is obviously a professional. She does her best to accommodate the novice home sewing enthusiast, but I still managed a few moments of deep confusion while putting this together. Three tips: 1. Get the pattern printed out full size at a print shop ($8-10 well spent!). 2. Mind the direction of your fabric design (if there is one), and 3. Always flip the pattern piece of a second of a pair of things--like sleeves or bodice-back-halves--before cutting. Whew! Thank you Paper Doll! :)

5 out of 5 starsSo happy with the results and will be making many more! I am a beginner, but with some patience was able to navigate to a finish product. I used a sheet that had a scalloped edge, and it came out just as I was hoping! Seller was quick to respond to questions.

I can't download the files
The most common download problem is when a customer purchases through the Etsy app, then tries to download the files through the app. This will not work because the Etsy app does not support digital downloads.
Instead, please sign into your Etsy account via your web browser (using the same login as your app), go to Purchases, click on the order and there will be a download link.
If you have signed into the Etsy app using Apple ID, you will need to use the same login in your browser.
If you are still having trouble locating the link, please message me via Etsy & I will email the files to you directly. You will need to advise your email if you have logged in via Apple ID because your email will be hidden.
How do I print my pattern at home?
A4/letter pdf pattern files can be printed on A4 or US letter. Once you have downloaded the file, open it with Adobe Reader & choose File/Print. Ensure printer is set to 100% scale, no scaling or actual size. Print the first page only. To check that the printing scale is correct, measure the 5x5cm or 2x2” box on page 1 before printing the rest of the pdf file.
Some of my newer patterns have size layers so you can turn off all sizes you don't wish to print. Those patterns include special printing instructions for layers.
What if I don’t have a printer at home?
You can email the pattern files to your local copy shop and instruct them to print with no scaling or 100% scale. Ask them to print page 1 of the pattern file and check the measurement of the 5x5cm or 2x2” box before printing the full file.
Or you can print on A0 paper which doesn't not require pages to be taped together.
I recommend that you read the pdf specification sheet & sewing instructions on your tablet or laptop to save on cost & it's more kind to the planet :-) Also, you may be able to see more detail in the sewing instruction photographs.
I have printed onto A4/US letter - what do I do with the printed pattern pages?
Tape or glue the pages together following the printing plan included in the specification sheet. Match the symbols together, which may appear at the top, bottom or sides of the page. Note that not all pages need to be joined – this is the joy of working with small children’s patterns! Cut around the dotted lines of the size you want using the size key (or trace off your required size), and you are ready to cut out your fabric. We recommend washing your fabric before cutting as there is no shrinkage allowance in the patterns.
I have reviewed the sizing chart but am still unsure which size to choose for my little person.
The children's patterns run fairly generous. If the child is around the 70th percentile on the growth charts, choose the size based on the child’s age. A size 2yr is designed to be worn during the year that the child is 2; it will be roomy and a bit long on a 24 month old (assuming they are around the 70th percentile), but should grow into it around 2.5yrs. When closer to 3 years old, the child will probably be just about ready for the next size up. If still unsure, I suggest mocking the garment up in a cheaper or scrap fabric first to check the size. Or compare the provided finished garment measurements to a garment that you know fits your child well.
Can I use this pattern for my clothing brand?
No, the patterns are protected by copyright and cannot be used for commercial purposes of any kind.
Do you have any videos showing how to make these garments?
Some of my styles have sew along tutorials on YouTube:

I have also filmed a few short tutorials on the fiddlier sewing techniques used in Paper Doll Patterns. You can find these on our Instagram highlights. Insta handle = paperdollpatternco
If the available videos don't cover a particular step that you are struggling with, please drop me a message. I am always happy to help!
Are seam allowances included in the patterns? Do I need an overlocker to sew these styles?
Yes, all seam allowances are included.
Most seams for woven styles are 1cm (3/8").
Bagging out seams (e.g. necklines, collars, sleeveless armholes) are usually 6mm (1/4").
Please refer to the first page of the pattern, or specification sheet you receive as part of your download for seam allowances, hems etc. that are specific to each style.
All woven style instructions include straight stitched and overlocked seams. However, many of the styles are suitable for people without an overlocker if french seams are used, however French seams are not covered in the instructions.
I am happy to give advice on this for specific styles if you contact me via my Etsy store.
Do I already need to be able to sew to use these patterns?
Yes you will need some sewing knowledge to use these patterns.
Sewing Ability:
BEGINNER - a suitable project for someone with limited sewing experience but it won't teach you how to sew. You may still need to attend a sewing class to learn the basics of garment construction.
ADVANCED BEGINNER - someone who has already sewn several garments of varying styles from commercial patterns
INTERMEDIATE - suitable for experienced sewers
All patterns have been tested to ensure photo instructions can be followed, but I always welcome direct questions and/or feedback on specific styles you are working on.
I always respond promptly to requests for help with further explanation or extra photos. Contact me via my Etsy store.
