Expert Restoration and Preservation for Personal and Shared Collections
Past2Perfect began with a simple belief: old photographs deserve more than automated fixes. They are often the only visual record of people, places and moments that cannot be recreated. Restoring them — and caring for them — requires judgement, restraint and respect for the original image. That same philosophy guides every resource I create here.
I’m Mark, the founder of Past2Perfect and the person behind every restoration and every guide. My work began with my own family photographs, and those early experiences showed me how much a carefully restored image can mean when it is the last surviving link to someone’s life. What started as personal work grew into a dedicated one‑to‑one restoration service, and now also into a collection of tools designed to help others care for their own visual history.
Modern AI tools can generate information, but they can’t give you clarity. They can’t tell you which steps truly matter, what order to follow, or how to avoid the mistakes that can permanently damage irreplaceable photographs. Past2Perfect guides are different. Each one is a calm, structured workflow built from real restoration practice — the same principles I use when repairing fragile, one‑of‑a‑kind images by hand.
These guides are designed for anyone working with photographs or archives: families organising personal collections, creatives preparing images for projects, heritage volunteers managing community materials, and small businesses who need reliable, repeatable processes that save time without sacrificing care. Whether you’re trying to make a photo “look good quickly without messing it up,” or you’re responsible for a larger archive, these tools give you confidence, not guesswork.
Every guide is heritage‑inspired, beautifully designed, and created to be printed, kept and used long‑term. They offer something AI cannot: human judgement, professional experience, and the reassurance that you’re handling your visual history the right way.
Past2Perfect exists to help you protect, restore and understand the materials that matter — with the same care and precision a professional would use.
