Who I am
Nach 20 Jahren als Polizist im Bundesstaat Connecticut, davon die letzten elf Jahre mit der Bearbeitung, Dokumentation und Fotografie von Tötungsdelikten, sehe ich die Welt nun mit anderen Augen. Meine Erfahrungen haben mir ermöglicht, die Dinge anders wahrzunehmen: Ich achte auf Details und schätze gleichzeitig die einfachen Dinge und die friedliche Ruhe interessanter Landschaften, Wildtiere und Architektur. Die Leidenschaft meiner Frau Rebecca für die Vogelbeobachtung ist ansteckend und führt dazu, dass wir fast täglich auf der Suche nach ungewöhnlichen oder interessanten gefiederten Freunden sind, während wir mit unserem Hund Kota in den Wäldern von Ost-Connecticut und Rhode Island wandern. Mein Ziel ist es, das, was ich in der Welt um mich herum sehe, so in Bildern festzuhalten, dass genau dieser Moment, der meine Aufmerksamkeit erregt hat, eingefangen wird. Mein Fokus liegt hauptsächlich auf den vielen Wildschutzgebieten und Staatswäldern in meiner Heimat Ost-Connecticut und Rhode Island, wobei ich gelegentlich auch in ferne Länder reise, darunter Cape May in New Jersey, Nevada, Alaska, Irland, Spanien, Frankreich, die Schweiz und Island. Ich hoffe, meine Bilder inspirieren Sie dazu, die Natur zu entdecken und Ihre lokalen Parks und Wälder zu unterstützen. After 20 years as a Connecticut State Trooper, with the last 11 years of my career spent processing, documenting and photographing primarily homicides, I am now able to see the world through a different lens. My experiences have given me the ability to see things a little differently; focusing on detail, while being able to appreciate simple things and the peaceful calm of interesting landscapes, wildlife, and architecture. My wife Rebecca's passion for Birding is contagious and has led to an almost daily search for unusual, or interesting feathered friends while hiking our dog (Kota) in the forests of Eastern Connecticut and Rhode Island. My goal is to express what I see in the world around me onto print in a way which captures that very moment which grabbed my attention. My focus is primarily the many Wildlife Management Areas and State Forests of my backyard of Eastern Connecticut and Rhode Island, with occasional adventures to other far away lands to include Cape May New Jersey, Nevada, Alaska, Ireland, Spain, France, Switzerland, and Iceland among others. Hopefully, seeing some of my images will inspire you to go outside, explore, and support your local parks and forests while appreciating the landscapes and wildlife you may have never known were around you.
