About

I’m Emily, I’m an enthusiastic crocheter, learner knitter living in Edinburgh with my young family. I opened Popcorn+Crocodiles primarily to share a notebook I’ve produced with other yarn enthusiasts. As someone who dips in and out of projects, fitting around work, family commitments etc I felt I was spending too much of my precious crafting time reminding myself where I last got to! I wanted something more structured than a pretty blank notebook, and because I couldn’t find what I wanted, I started from scratch and designed it!

I plan to expand Popcorn+Crocodiles to provide a wider selection of useful tools for crocheters and knitters, but I’m keen to do this in an organic and manageable way to complement the other elements of my life. In the meantime you can follow my journey to becoming more creative at www.popcornandcrocodiles.co.uk

I’m increasingly committed to making buying decisions which support local, small businesses, who consider ethical and environmental matters in their production, who truly care about what they do, and make things from the heart. For this reason I wanted to produce my notebook as close to home as I could, and work with the right local experts. I was fortunate to find that a fantastic graphic designer that I had long admired had relocated to Edinburgh; she did an amazing job at helping me to realise my vision for the notebook – and take the design much further than I could have done on my own. I found a supportive and patient local printer who coped with clumsy questions and requests and taught me lots about paper weights and finishes!

Thanks for taking a look in my mini shop. It’s very much work in progress so please do pop back and see what’s new before too long!

The printers coordinate printing and collation of the notebook. Working with a local partner was really important to me; after extensive searching I found a fantastic and very supportive company less than 2 miles from my home.
