Announcement
Happy New Year & welcome! I'm delighted you found Pots About Pottery.
I work hard to create unique pottery and always hope for sunny days ☀️ It helps to get my creative juices flowing and the photography looks a whole lot better too 😊
☝️ Let's Keep In Touch! Don΄t forget to click the 'Favourite Shop' button in order to stay updated with my new collections and products! I work from my studio, right in the middle of Stonehenge and Avebury. Beauty lives here. All the pretties you see in my shop are made by me with love and one at a time, in the beautiful countryside of Wiltshire, UK.
💜 Pots About Pottery 💜 couples a passion for creating beautiful pottery with carefully designed pieces, which are functional, rustic and unique. All of my ceramics are fired to around 1200°C, this ensures they are fully robust and most are dishwasher/microwave safe. Occasionally, I have RAKU available in my shop. This is decorative and not usually functional since it is fired to a lower temperature and is therefore not watertight.
Functional pieces: handcrafted stoneware teapots, ceramic tea or coffee mugs and cups, pottery kitchen utensil holders, soap dishes, butter dishes, berry bowls, garlic and sugar jars, serving bowls, pitchers, dinnerware, shaving bowls, oil burners, cactus/succulent planters, mini mug necklaces, ceramic buttons and flower arranging vases (including mini bud vases). You names it, I can usually make it! These are ceramic items produced for your enjoyment by Pots About Pottery. I hope you have a rewarding time browsing, and if you have questions, let me know. I'm interested in your views and welcome your questions.
For enquiries regarding custom orders, please send me an Etsy Convo, or send me an email at: mel [!at] potsaboutpottery.com and I'd be happy to work out the details with you.
I use a potters wheel instead of molds or slip casts, so everything I make is unique and one of a kind. On functional items, I always use non-toxic glazes (food safe), which are lead free.
Customer satisfaction is my #1 priority! Check out my feedback to see how happy my customers are: http://www.etsy.com/people/PotsAboutPottery/feedback
Orders are usually dispatched within 2 working days. However, delivery times may be longer than expected - please be patient and understanding at this difficult time. Orders for the U.K. are dispatched using Royal Mail 2nd Class services, unless an upgrade to 1st Class is requested at checkout.
*** US CUSTOMERS: If International Standard/Tracked Shipping is chosen, you should receive your order within 7-10 days. However, due to International levies to parcels shipped to USA, the postage on occasional items is calculated using Economy Shipping with Royal Mail. Economy Shipping to USA usually takes 6-12 weeks. *** If you wish to receive your item within 5-10 days, please upgrade at checkout to either International Tracked and Signed or International Standard. *** It should be noted, however, that items shipped using ECONOMY can only be insured for up to £20.

5 out of 5 starsAnother four beautiful, quality items from Mel, thank you. Quiche dish is a beautiful sea green, the pic doesn't do it justice and the colour on the plates is fab, the markings in the glaze give them such character. The utensil holder is equally beautiful, i love the difference between the glaze and the bare fired clay. Thanks again Mel!

Me... at the wheel, my favourite part!
Pots About Pottery creates functional, bespoke and unique pieces.
A day never passes by without me making something from clay. With it's earthy comforts, quality handmade pottery can enhance that moment between you and the food you put in your body. It's in that moment that my art is more than utility. Using handmade pots for our simple acts of nourishment nurtures our spirit, they have the power of turning necessity into a special moment, a time to reflect and be present.
From a selling stand point, it would be easier to pick one style of mug and reproduce it over and over again. I prefer to keep moving and exploring through my ideas, creating unique handmade pottery.
I am a perfectionist but as with all handmade ceramics there may be minor imperfections or very slight variations from the photographs. Such imperfections are not considered to be flaws, they simply reflect the unique character of each piece and are a natural part of the pottery process.
I am largely self taught with a lot of help from local college classes, a lovely studio teacher, YouTube, the Internet and hundreds of books from the library!!

Frequently asked questions
Can I use PayPal?
Yes! I accept PayPal. If you should need help with Etsy's checkout system using Paypal please click on the link here: http://www.etsy.com/help_guide_checkout.php
Wholesale availability
Please contact me if you would like to carry my ceramics in your store or gallery.
What happens if my item arrives damaged?
In the unusual event of your item arriving damaged, please take a photo of the actual damaged pot and the packaging. Then attach them to a conversation/email, so I can claim for compensation from Royal Mail. Please keep the broken item, original box and packaging, as Royal Mail may request evidence. I will refund you as soon as these photos arrive. Alternatively, if it is your wish, I can make you the same item again.
What kind of packaging do you use?
I use double wall cardboard boxes which are strong and will give protection to my work, alongside re-usable bubble wrap and 100% biodegradable starch based loose fill packaging. The loose-fill may be composted at home. In an effort to be as "green" as possible, I may re-use boxes and packing materials whenever I can. The shipping safety of your purchase is never compromised, but this small effort on my part can make a difference.
CUSTOMER RETURNS:
If you wish to return an item, please contact me first with your reason. When you pack it, please use the original packaging. If this is not available, use plenty of bubble wrap and loose-fill - Royal Mail will not refund broken items which are unsuitably packaged (please see their terms).
Sizing and Colour
Please look carefully at the description of the item. I always detail the size/ dimensions in centimeters/millimeters, inches and if applicable, in milliliters or fluid ounces. Colours may vary due to screen calibration, so I describe as accurately as possible. Please contact me if you have any questions.
Postage For Items Over The Value of £20
For the purposes of insurance, I send these items via Royal Mail Signed, or in the case of overseas, Tracked and Signed. Both requires a signature on delivery. If you are overseas and would prefer to have your parcel sent just Tracked (with no signature), please add a message in 'notes to seller' or send me a message.
Do you ship overseas?
Yes, I am happy to ship items under 2kg via Airmail with Royal Mail International. Heavier items will need to be shipped by courier and a shipping cost will be advised.
I only charge what it costs me to post, plus a little more for packaging. If there is an overpayment, I will be happy to refund you.
Custom and personalised orders
Custom orders will need to be paid for in full before the item is made, but never before full terms, such as time frame, price etc. are mutually agreed. PotsAboutPottery is unable to accept cancellations, exchanges or refunds on custom made orders, unless faulty.
Stoneware glazes are made up of earth elements and minerals and as such can be a little unpredictable. The colour of your item may turn out slightly different than the examples shown. It's all part of the magic of ceramics!
Sold Items
I am usually able to make anything which you see in my sold items. Please send me a conversation and I can then give you a price and the time it will take me. The time it takes me to make an item is between 3-7 weeks, depending on where I am in my firing schedule.
Multiple Items
I am happy to make more than one of an item and I offer combined shipping. Please contact me using the Conversation Button, and I will get back to you very soon.
