Announcement    Hand bound sketchbooks & Journals, Made-to-Order Custom-bound editions - Ideal for busy desks and on-the-go working. Personalisation service available. Specialist fine art papers. Original prints from our collection. Free UK delivery.
The PrintUrchin Press & Bindery specialises in original hand printed & bound books. All our books are small-run editions and include original prints on bookcloth & papers, from the artists' collection. Book papers and book blocks are all case-bound volumes, hand cut and sewn without guillotining. We print each metre of book cloth & decorative paper with original lino prints & woodcuts from our collections and don't use machines at any stage of production, apart from our two book presses. I am a fine art print maker, lecturing for more than twenty-five years. I also make books, which extends the possibilities of the printed image. Why not have an object that is useful as well as beautiful? Why not have a unique print that you can take with you?
Our books are beautiful, hardworking & hard-wearing, suitable for wet or dry media. We hand-stitch every case-bound book because this is the only binding that lasts. We only use the finest papers for our books and we constantly outsource smaller, artisan producers for exclusive decorated papers & bookcloths. Our books are made to be used, so the ideal paper is durable, strong & flexible. Our more expensive editions are therefore, made of 60 - 100% cotton whose long fibres intertwine to produce exceptional strength.
At our studio, we work at the cutting edge of contemporary visual art, presenting engaging workshops and regularly running classes for all ages and abilities. As practitioners, one of our main aims is to share the practice of printmaking & bookbinding with the wider local community and to support artistic excellence in the medium of print through inspiration & education. *Important! Postage to the USA - We charge a flat rate for our postage. This is to accomodate the different size and weight of our books. If you are ordering a single A5 size book of approx 50 pages with cartridge paper, the price for posting is approximately £7.50 from the UK. Larger books can cost more and 2 x A5 volumes in a small parcel will cost around £17.00. So that we don't overcharge you for postage, if your order costs less than the flat rate charge, we will refund the difference less VAT. This is to accomodate the variation in weights of books. If you are ordering multiple copies, please email us in advance for a quote and we will try to find the least expensive option for you. I hope this makes sense! Please email us if you have any questions as we can always find a solution.

I am a fine art print maker and artist maker, lecturing for more than twenty-five years. My work reflects my interest in textures, layers & the palimpsest.
I enjoy pushing process and often combine print making techniques in one piece. I rarely produce editions, exploiting the limitations and the possibilities that printmaking gives the artist. I make books, which extends the possibilities of the printed image. Why not have an object that is useful as well as beautiful? Why not have a unique print that you can take with you?
