    Sewing is my passion

    My great grandmother introduced me to sewing at a very early age. I inherited my grandmother's 1928 hand operated Singer sewing machine and this became a favourite for piecing quilts. My love of quilting grew until it became a business making bespoke quilts for people all over the world. I have sent quilts as far as New Zealand and Hong Kong and had an extensive client base in England and Wales, including a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company and someone at Christie's.

    In 2008 I purchased a Longarm Quilting machine and since 2009 my business offers a quilt finishing service. Quilts are beautiful, practical heirloom items - I am more than happy to finish a quilt you have started, finish one that has been found amongst a loved one's possessions or make a custom quilt just for you.

    Customs and import taxes
    Buyers are responsible for any customs and import taxes that may apply. I'm not responsible for delays due to customs.

    The following items can't be returned or exchanged
    Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
    • Custom or personalised orders
    • Items on sale

    Please contact me in advance to arrange the details of a refund - don't worry, I'm really very friendly and we can get this all sorted out if we work together :)

    I am able to offer a refund if you notify me of your intention to return the item in writing within 14 days of receiving your purchase (in line with the EU Directive on Consumer Rights). The product must be returned in its original condition (i.e. new and unused) within 14 days of you receiving the item. Please note that you will be responsible for the cost of postage and packaging (including sufficient postal insurance to cover the cost of the quilt plus postage AND a tracking number) to return the item to me. I will process all refunds (excluding all p+p costs) only once I have received the returned item in its original condition.

    In addition, refunds may also be issued if an item has been damaged during transit. In this event, please retain all the packaging (as evidence), take photographs of the damaged parcel (including packaging) and contact me immediately, and we will agree a course of action involving the relevant postal insurance scheme (for more details, see Delivery Policy).

    As all custom orders will be agreed in advance, I cannot offer refunds on these specially created custom orders - I can only offer a refund on custom items if they are damaged in transit as stated above. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
    Payment
    I accept payment via PayPal and selected credit cards (via Etsy's direct checkout facility).

    PayPal:
    Never fear - you don’t need to have a PayPal account to pay, as you can pay with your debit or credit card directly on the PayPal site as a PayPal guest (http://www.etsy.com/storque/how-to/how-to-pay-with-a-credit-card-and-create-a-paypal-account-746/).

    Payment is expected in full at checkout, but in some instances (such as the design and creation of custom quilts), payment plans can be discussed. All custom orders will require a deposit to be paid in advance, which we can agree privately.

    Please note that I may dispatch your item within a very short period of time (depending on the time of day) and any cancellations must be made BEFORE the item is dispatched - sorry, no cancellations can be offered once I've posted the item to you.

    Please note that all customs fees, handling fees, import taxes and/or fees levied by the postal/courier service are the sole responsibility of the buyer/purchaser - these fees are NOT included in the listing price.     Delivery
    Unfortunately, I cannot guarantee that a shipment will arrive with you by a certain date ... once handed over, the speed of your parcel's journey is entirely within the hands of the postal service. However, if you're running out of time and you'd like to upgrade your shipping for an additional charge, please contact me and I'll do my very best to make it happen!

    Under 'normal' circumstances, shipments to Worldwide and EU buyers generally take 7-15 working days to arrive after dispatch, or 3-7 working days for UK buyers, but nothing is guaranteed once it's in the hands of the postman, especially at such a busy time like Christmas!

    Please remember that Worldwide and EU buyers may occasionally find that their shipment is delayed by factors outside the courier's control (e.g. customs), especially at busy times of the year. Please also remember that import duties may be levied at your end, and that you are solely responsible for any such charges.

    If you've got to meet an impending deadline and need an 'express' service, please contact me BEFORE you checkout - we'll agree the additional postage charges in advance, and I'll update the listing with your preferred express delivery option, ready for you to checkout.

    I will confirm dispatch as soon as the item has been posted. All orders MUST be shipped to the address you enter upon checkout.

    All items are very carefully packaged to ensure that they arrive safely; however, if the worst happens all items are insured in full with the courier, which is included in the delivery costs for each listing. Please ensure that you retain all original packaging, and take photographs of the damaged parcel - these will be needed in order to file an insurance claim.

    Please note that because every order is a bespoke creation, I am not necessarily able to replace "no show" items; in the event of an order being lost in transit, we will agree a course of action via a conversation involving the appropriate courier insurance scheme.

    All our ice dyed fabrics are carefully created in our studio. Each hand-crafted piece is unique – the ice is the carrier for the dye, the quicker the ice melts the less dye is in the fabric and this causes many variations of shade; we think you'll agree that this adds to the charm and individuality, which will help you to produce your very own one-of-a-kind heirloom that you and your family will treasure for generations.

    All photographs are taken in natural daylight in order to produce as true a representation of this item as possible. However, please bear in mind that computer monitors display colours differently and there may be some small variation in the colours you see on this listing's photographs compared with the finished product.

    Please note that all my handmade items are created using hand tools, my sewing machine, and with hand-stitched details where applicable. Each hand-crafted piece is unique and may contain the occasional minor imperfection; we think you'll agree that this only adds to their charm and individuality, producing a lovingly created heirloom that you and your family will treasure for generations.

    If you have any concerns, or need further information about specific colours (perhaps you're trying to match a very specific colour?), please don't hesitate to contact me - I'm always very happy to send additional photographs or, at a pinch, a scrap of fabric for you to 'road test' in advance of your purchase!

    Please note that I reserve the right to use the images and descriptions of any items, including custom orders, from my shop on my twitter account. I'll NEVER share any personal details, but I would like to modestly promote my work online. However, if you've requested a custom order and would prefer that I don't use images of your order to promote my shop, please just let me know!

    CUSTOM ORDERS:
    I love working up custom orders; much as I love to design my own pieces, I also adore working with a customer to bring your ideas to life. The process is simple:

    1) You express an interest in creating a custom order, by sending me a message, clicking on the 'Request Custom Order' button in my shop, or clicking on the ‘Request Custom Order’ button in a listing. Please include details of what you're looking for (size, style, colours, patterns, deadlines, event, etc.).
    2) We agree the details of your request. If necessary, I provide a proof, in the form of a sketch, photograph, etc before I start work on your order. Please see the Additional Fees section below for more details. I offer a maximum of three proofs (i.e. the original suggestion, plus no more than two revisions PRIOR to work commencing on your order).
    3) Next, I will provide confirmation of the details of your custom order, the total costs (including any deposit, postage and packing, etc), the estimated dispatch date and any additional items. No further changes can be made to a custom order once you have approved the proof or otherwise confirmed that you are happy for me to proceed. PLEASE NOTE: I will not commence work on your custom order until I have received confirmation in writing from you that you are happy to commission the work.
    4) After you have commissioned your custom order, and paid an agreed deposit, I will get busy making your perfect, one-of-a-kind creation! I am happy to provide updates on progress, including photographs, if you'd like to see your order coming to life!
    5) Once completed, I'll contact you with details and list the item as a 'private listing', which is visible only to you, where you'll be able to purchase the item in the usual way.

    Please note: as all custom orders will be agreed in advance, I cannot offer returns or refunds on these specially created custom orders. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
