Amazing quality prints, love the colours and autumn visuals so much (all year around) and we have a living room with a burgundy autumnal cosy vibe that they're going to go perfectly with - thank you so much!

Stunning prints. Excellent quality and very unique. Delivery was brilliant as I placed the order for two prints on the Monday and they came the next day. Very well packaged and an extra lovely touch with a free card and a lovely note. One very happy customer and I highly recommend. 😊

Bought for my mum as a birthday present and I can’t wait to give it to her! It was the perfect size to fit the frame I had bought and the colours are so vibrant!

Designer, illustrator, writer of children's books and maker of cards with a big laugh!
With a passion for design and a first class honours degree in Architecture from the University of Bath, I founded Ruth Thorp Studio as a base for all of my current and future creative ventures, in particular offering my services as an illustrator and designer.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always spent time making, creating and producing art. Coming from a very creative family, I was extremely lucky to be surrounded by great design, beautiful books and interesting people and I’m happy to say that I still work very closely with my family on a host of projects, some of which you will find in my shop here!
Having worked for 10 years as an architectural designer and illustrator at a busy Landscape Architect's practice whilst developing my own personal creative skills and projects on the side and after completing the 'Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design' online course, I began producing a product line of illustrations, selling them as cards and paper products online, in shops and at local markets. That gradually grew until I was able to leave my job in 2016 to pursue Ruth Thorp Studio full time.
I am pleased to say that it has transformed my life. It is my natural instinct to dive head first into exploring new ideas, learning new skills, drawing inspiration from my surroundings and embracing new ways of looking at things.
My ethos of design parallels my belief that a life should be built on happiness, a sense of pride and worth which can touch others in a positive light. Ultimately, I feel that design across different disciplines should focus on people, meeting the needs of the user and creating products that inspire, work and function efficiently and can be enjoyed. I hope that this shows through in my work which often has a strong emphasis on complex colours combined with bold graphics, both hand-drawn and vector based, that is clean and well considered and holds a sense of fun and energy.
I am inspired by brave, simple design and love to play with colour, bold graphics and minimalist layouts to create beautiful pieces that make people smile. Most of my work is inspired by the natural world and the spirit of adventure!
