Announcement    VERY IMPORTANT!! Despite what it says in the listings, shipping will now (temporarily) be in 3-5 business days. This means that I will only have to go to the Post Office once a week, limiting my time in public at a time of self-isolation in the UK (COVID 19 measures). This is a compromise between keeping the shop open and so continuing to provide a service, and protecting myself.

INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS OUTSIDE THE UK:
I will now only send out of the UK using tracked shipping. I previously had this as a customer option, because tracked is more expensive and takes the same route and the same amount of time. It seemed to me the right thing to allow a customer to choose a more expensive option, if they wished, for peace of mind. But I no longer think that is viable. If someone orders a gift in plenty of time, from a long distance away, they have a right to know exactly where it is. It's just not acceptable for me to say "I posted it, you chose not to have it tracked, so I'm as much in the dark as you".
I'm sorry, and I know the expense will deter some valued customers; but these are entirely original items in very limited supply and in most cases I only have one example, so it's not a case of just sending you another if the postal system lets us both down (a thankfully very rare occurrence).
If you purchase an item, you will now receive a tracking code that you can enter into the website of your national carrier (or Royal Mail) to find out where it has reached.
It's worth pointing out here that, in five years of business, I have never failed to turn an order round inside two working days.
I have reviewed my entire pricing structure, and I have been able to reduce the price for additional items. This is certainly not about making money from shipping - in fact I make a loss on every item - it's just a case of small business trying to provide an excellent service in supplying unique items, while covering some of my costs.

UK Postage remains as 2nd class, with a checkout option for 1st class or next day special delivery.

Thanks for ploughing through all this. Rich at RetroAdverts.

Because The Past Makes A Great Present

Please Note: Nothing in the following is intended to suggest that ladies don't also love their cars....

Scenario One: Father's Day approaches. Or a birthday; or anniversary, or Christmas. You ask your nearest and dearest what he'd like for a gift. He looks at you blankly like you have just asked him to split the atom. Then he shrugs and says "surprise me."

With great effort of will, you stop yourself picking up the nearest blunt instrument and explaining to him how VERY unhelpful that is.

Scenario Two: In a moment of madness, you ask your nearest and dearest what his first or favourite car was. He drones on and on and on....

With great effort of will, you stop yourself picking up the nearest blunt instrument and explaining to him how he should now STOP TALKING.

Enter, stage left, RetroAdverts <fanfare, dancing girls>. In an act of inspiration common to all the great discoveries, we combine the commonplace and unlikely ingredients to produce something extraordinary....

Scenario Three. Birthday, Father's Day, Christmas. Unwrapping the present, his eyes rest on the original, contemporary advertisement for his second greatest love. Original, mind you; no scans or copies at RetroAdverts. Every gift as old as the car, and as old as the memory. He beams. You smile. All is well.

I sit in England and find the original, contemporary advert for that first or favourite car, then I custom-mount it so it fits perfectly in the frame of your choice for that perfect, unusual and rare gift. It's raining here, BTW.

Frequently asked questions
How long will it take to ship to the US and Australia?

Obviously once I post it, I am in the hands of the Royal Mail and your national carrier, so I cannot guarantee delivery times. Royal Mail gives a shipping time of 5 to 7 working (not calendar) days, but my experience is that this is very optimistic. Please don't rely on that shipping time if it's a gift and time is short.

How long will it take to ship to Europe?

The Royal Mail gives a shipping time of 3 to 5 working days, and my experience is that this is met most of the time. I can't guarantee it, however; like you, I am in the hands of others once it's posted.

Do the other shipping options guarantee a faster delivery?

In the UK, generally yes; next day delivery does what it says on the tin. For the rest of the world, no. The parcel takes exactly the same route whichever option you choose. The only advantage to the tracked options is that you can go on the Royal Mail website, type in the number I provide you with and it will tell you where in the world it has reached.

Can I request that the print is not mounted, or mounted at a different size to that shown?

Yes, you can. Provided the print is a suitable size, I will mount it at the size you request. There is no increased shipping charge if the size is larger. If you wish the print unmounted, please don't underestimate the cost of getting it mounted yourself; it can be quite expensive.

Do you really turn your orders round in one to two working days?

Yes, I do. The one very slight amendment is if one of those days is a public holiday in the UK (when the Post Offices are not open) and you are unaware because it is not a public holiday in your country. However, I will always let you know if that is the case and such circumstances are rare. I would add that I turn around about 80-90% of orders within one day; often just a few hours.

The print is a gift. Can I ask you to send it directly to the person for whom it is intended, but without a receipt included?

Yes, you can, and I will send it directly to that person and forward the receipt to you electronically. However, please be aware that, for packages outside Europe, I have to affix a customs declaration to the outside of the package which has some shipping details on it, including the value.

This is almost what I want, but not quite. Do you have others?

The honest answer is possibly. Obviously I can't find an advert that was never produced in the first place; but I have thousands of adverts, of which only around 200 are on Etsy, so it's possible I have something closer to what you want. Send me a convo, and I'll search my archive! If there's something you like, we can set up a custom order, so you retain all the Etsy convenience and protection.
Please be aware that many adverts are extremely rare (and getting rarer) and in the majority of cases I only have one copy, with limited chances of finding another.
