Bead Work Inspired by the Beautiful English Countryside

| Canterbury, England

Star Seller.

This seller sets a shining example for providing a great customer experience, with a history of 5-star reviews, on-time dispatch, and quick replies to any messages they received.

Announcement    Welcome from the beautiful wooded valleys of East Kent in England, where morning dog walks provide a stream of ideas for evening bead work projects. Every one is an attempt to capture and share a little moment of wonder from my adventures during the day.

All my work is built up by stitching individual beads together one by one using a needle and thread. The designs emerge from studying the colours, textures and effects of light and shade on the subject, and then experimenting with my basket of different beads in a range of sizes, natural colours and finishes. Some of them have taken years to reach the stage you see, and there are others that seem forever stuck in development - they truly are a labour of love!

Thank you for visiting my shop, and I hope you enjoy sharing my walks in the woods.

Some Things Were Never Meant to be Put Into Words

It seems so much is lost when we learn to speak.

The world is gradually chopped up into parcels of knowledge and understanding according to the words used to describe and growing up becomes synonymous with developing a verbal mental model of commonly recognised categories which can be easily shared with others. The sensory, emotional and intuitive ways to relate to the world dwindle and words become the building blocks of understanding.

Well, I must have been having far too much fun building imaginary kingdoms with rainbows and buttercups and the smell of the dog's wet fur and the sound of raindrops on the window because this never happened to me. Instead I learned to speak in order to interact but built a sensory intuitive operating system where meaning is categorised according to its sensory and emotional content as uniquely perceived by me. Understandably this makes me completely unfathomable to other people, and they have a problem with this!

So I am attempting to learn a visual language in order to express my observations and reactions directly into objects that can be understood by the rest of the human race. Sometimes it feels like trying to teleport a unicorn or fit an explosion in a fireworks factory into a shoebox, but I hope somewhere along the way I manage to communicate, resonate, and share with you something that was never meant to be put into words.
