Announcement   Welcome to my hoard- the result of a lifetime spent gathering and re- loving the discarded, the overlooked or the lost.

I am an artist, stylist, maker and collector with many interests.I have always found my inspiration in time worn surfaces

Contemporary hand crafted goods ,made with traditional materials and skills or genuine Vintage survivors with retro classic style- these are the new exclusive luxuries.
The thrill of the chase, discovering and tracking down a rarity, researching and learning social or historical connections, all these can be as much fun as the ultimate reward- possession of a unique “ one off”object with a story.

I take it for granted that all my customers will accept and appreciate the marks and patina of time on the items I sell, but will always mention if something is significantly damaged or has missing elements that could impact on functional use.

If you find everything here irresistible,( of course you do!) I would recommend that you also visit my website www.ruralretro.co.uk which hosts an additional selection of vintage collectibles and contemporary craft, together with some of my own original artwork.

About

Just like Seasick Steve- I “ started out with nothing and still got most of it left" !!

I live in a beautiful rural corner of the countryside and enjoy hunting for hidden treasure at local markets, auctions and fairs.

I am somehow driven to uncover simple beauty in nearly anything+everything.I try to re-cycle,up- cycle or find a new angle from which to re- appreciate the time worn, the pretty ugly and the temporarily uncool.
Even relatively recent eras have left us a legacy of ephemera with huge nostalgic appeal- it’s fun to research and understand the history of our surroundings and by adopting a vintage object or crafting something for ourselves we are enriching our lives as well as saving a little bit of the planet.

I like to share this eclectic“ Wabi Sabi” insight and on my website www.ruralretro.co.uk you can find how to join in at my art&craft workshops.Award yourself some creative “ me” time, leave your inhibitions at home and just have a go- who knows what talents you may unleash! We learn together and from each other at my “ Painting Playschool” workshops.

A selection of my own original artworks and crafted makes are also displayed on the Rural Retro website together with details of upcoming exhibitions or venues where I will be selling direct.

Frequently asked questions
Packaging

I try to re-cycle packaging materials wherever I can( there is already enough bubble wrap in the world) so your package may look a little “ pre- used” - however, you can rely on me to pack securely and protectively since most of the items I sell have a unique value to me far beyond ££££’s and I want to safely pass on these precious one of a kind survivors that it would be impossible to replace if damaged or lost

If you are sending anything as a gift please message me and I will give the packaging special attention- enclosing gift label etc as required.

Mishaps?

I take great pride in delivering your purchase as quickly and efficiently as possible but sometimes unforeseen delays, breakages or “ oops” events can occur. Whatever the problem,I will resolve it in a fair and reasonable way so please contact me as soon as you discover a problem so the issue can be sorted out to your satisfaction.

Postage charges

UK Buyers
All items with a value above £10 will be dispatched using a Royal Mail signed for, tracked, insured service which will require your signature on receipt.
On many smaller/ less valuable items I will offer FREE postage for delivery within the UK( this will be be confirmed at time of purchase) OR- I will send by first class letter or small parcel post.
I am very happy to combine postage for multiple purchases but bear in mind that there is a limit to the number of fragile items with “ sticky out” parts that I can squeeze into a small box without risking transit damage. Please pay full postage charge quoted at time of purchase then message me and I will refund any overpayment after dispatch.

Returns

I hope that you will love your Rural Retro purchase but I offer a full refund if for any reason you are not happy with your item when it arrives. All I ask is that you provide written notice that you would like to return it within fourteen working days of receipt. You must confirm the following:
1)Your name and address
2)Order Ref.
3)Reason for return.

Some items might be non- returnable for practical reasons and where this is the case the item description will clearly state no returns.
Cost of returning items is payable by you and you are responsible for the item until it arrives back to me in re- saleable condition so I strongly recommend you use a service that provides tracking or insurance to return items.

Defective items

Vintage items- Genuine vintage items are likely to have wear or marks due to age and previous use ( I believe this adds to their unique charm!)
I take care to describe the general observed condition and provide images to aid these descriptions. Please be aware that different computer screens can display slight differences in images such as colour and may not be 100% accurate.
In the unlikely event that an item has been significantly mis- described then please contact me before returning the item. In this event,a full refund including costs of outward and return postage will be made.

Vintage Toys and Games

Please note that the vintage playthings I sell are NOT suitable for children as they are offered as collectors items and do not comply with today’s safety regulations.

Overseas Buyers Please note Due to modest individual value of many of my listings+relatively high international postage costs, I am not posting anywhere outside the UK at the moment.

I will offer to obtain estimates for international postage for quantity purchases with a total combined value of £75 or more. Message me for details.
