5 out of 5 starsOutstanding! Beautiful! Sad.. Betrayal.... I will never tire of looking at this thing!!
This was pretty much an impulse buy, (I found out about this 'Art of San Quentin' from a post on an @yup.that.exists post) that I do not regret at all. Shipping seemed like it took forever, but with Covid and location and me tracking this thing minute by minute - it probably wasn't nearly as long as it felt.
Breezy transaction... safe, secure, shipping, no complaints.
I would gladly buy again. -

5 out of 5 starsDear Daniel,
Imagine my excitement when I found your work – The Seeker. My first reaction was – “That’s me!” The image is how I see myself, in ways – looking inward, studying a life force (flame) that is mine, yet beyond this world. Your work is so incredibly detailed and rich. I imagine you spending many hours creating the piece and thinking about it during the times you weren’t sitting and drawing.

Enabling prisoners on death row San Quentin to share their creativity
ArtReach – The aim of ArtReach is to provide a platform to prisoners on San Quentin’s death row to share their creativity and in so doing, to connect and engage with the outside world. An artist herself, Nicola uses items foraged from the Thames foreshore to create collages and creations for her Tideline Art. She gives these discarded objects a new purpose and a second chance as works of art. By bringing those on the fringes of society into the limelight, she hopes to humanise their plight, and to give them a chance to tell their stories through art and poetry.
Earlier this year, one prisoner said this when I was speaking to him about his poetry and writing: “Painting, like any art form, whether it’s the performing art or the written art form, creates a focus and a meditative state of mind. I think, why the prisoners paint has less to do with penance, but more about healing internal sounds and resolving inner conflicts within themselves and trying to find some redemptive value in their own life. I also think they create art because it comes from a primal need to express themselves in a meaningful way. In many cases these prisoners never had an opportunity to do that”
Two more quotes from prisoners are below:-
--------------------------
“the reason why I find art and creativity important is because it helps to release the stress and to have a peaceful mind enabling me to cope with things in a better way and to expand the mind”
----------------------
“Painting is a great joy to me and I want to bring happiness to others and especially with the “Wow” factor. Usually, when I show someone a finished painting their first reaction is “Wow!”. Did you say “Wow”? Yeah, I think you did!”
