Knitting - One of The Most Ancient Crafts

History has shown us by the find of a piece of knitting found in Ancient Egypt that the craft of Knitting has been with us for eons of time.
Here in Scotland, sheep have been reared for wool with which the women of the clan (and often, the men) knitted the clothing they needed to keep out the bitter cold of winter.

For me, knitting has always been my passion. I knitted in my spare time - whether at home or to keep myself occupied on a long car journey (I am the passenger - honestly!)

In 2014, I opened my shop on Etsy but closed it a year later to accomodate life events.
Boredom set in so 2015 saw the re-opening of Scottish Knitwear For Kids And Grown Ups with a new logo, a new cover and an even greater passion for my craft,
I had two great knitting events in my career - firstly my work was seen by the costume department of the major TV series "Outlander," so I began to work on the 18th century knitwear. Later I was featured in "Knitting Magazine" - all very exciting for a knitter!

As well as working with yarn I spare time to walk around my home county here in the Scottish Borders with my Border Terrier, Brodie. I am lucky to live here surrounded by such idyllic scenery of rolling green countryside, trees and rivers here in The Borders.

So welcome to my shop, browse around and haste ye back for another visit!

Frequently asked questions
Sizing details

For a Made To Order item - I need from you:-

.....the length you require from the nape of the neck to where you
want the length to be
.....the length of arm taken from the arm pit to length required
.....chest measurement taken from the widest part of the chest

Care instructions

I personally always recommend washing all woollen garments by hand and drying flat. Many yarn companies advise that their yarn can be washed by machine, which I have documented in the description if applicable, but my personal preference is to hand wash

Colour Choices

At the end of the Pure Scottish Aran, Pure Scottish Double Knitting or the Scottish Chunky Aran, I have a colour chart as Pure fibers have more limited colour choices but have great choices!
The items that are Aran Wool/Mix have many, many colour choices - please choose from the colour options listed and I'll be pleased to knit in the colour of your choice.
