About SheffieldMugCo
Personalised, unique mugs, coasters, bottler openers & more!
Having spent some 20+ years working in web design and management, and then project management, my job disappeared over the Pennines to Manchester. I didn't want to spend half my life commuting and missing my children grow up, so I took redundancy.
After a few months of job hunting in the midst of a recession, I found myself doodling and thinking of a way to promote the local shops in the area of Sheffield where I live, whilst attempting to earn some money myself. I came up with a typographical design interspersed with some of the shop logos and with the support of the local shopkeepers looked to get a mug printed. After trying a number of different options, none of them were good. I was on the verge of giving up. My local fruit and veg shop owner was the man who convinced my to continue – he offered to lend me the money to buy the equipment to get started! - and six months after that initial idea the first mugs were available for sale in the local shops. Somehow I'd become a mug designer.
Mugs eventually led on to coasters, bottle openers, posters, bags and more. I still have a love of typographical designs and many of my designs are now influenced by Sheffield and its heritage.
As well as my own designs you can see here in my Etsy shop I also work with some fantastic companies and artists to print mugs and more for them – if you'd like to know more, please get in touch.
In August 2018 I bought a small gift shop called The Walkley Press in Sheffield where you can find a range of the gifts I design and print - see: walkleypress.co.uk
I'm was the Captain of the Sheffield Sellers on Etsy team for a couple of years, a fantastic team of 500+ different artists, designers and makers from the Sheffield City Region, producing an amazing range of different products, who also sell them here on Etsy too.

Privacy
Essentially, I do take your privacy very seriously and only use it process your order, your personal information is retained for legal purposes and I do not share it with anyone other than those necessary to process and deliver your order. But if you'd like more detail, read on.
To process your orders through Etsy I receive your order details, name, address and (currently) email address, and sometimes the name and delivery address of someone else if you are ordering it to be sent elsewhere. I primarily contact you through Etsy, but very occasionally will try to reach you via email if I need to get in touch with you and you have not responded via Etsy.
Once the order has gone I still have access to your order via Etsy, but the only time I'm going to even look at it again is if something goes wrong with the order.
I need this info as without it, you're not getting sent your order. I also use your personal information to post your item whether via courier or the Royal Mail so may share your name and address with them to be able to deliver your item. I also need to keep it for legal (i.e. tax) reasons and will do so for 7 years, or as long as Etsy decides it will stay on my account. The information will be stored here on Etsy, unless I am required to download it for legal reasons. If I could delete your order info, there's always a chance Etsy may retain it so you should (but probably won't) have a look at their privacy policy:
https://www.etsy.com/uk/legal/privacy
You of course have the right for your personal information and can do so by contacting me through the shop, and then I'll send you your name, address, email address and details of what you ordered and any conversations that may have taken place, as that is all the information I have and you will probably have this info already.
I do constantly review my privacy policy and will post the most up to date version here.
