Hello and welcome!

Thanks for popping by - I guess you've figured out that I love all things vintage and sparkly and so have combined the two, handcrafting unique headpieces from carefully selected antique and vintage jewellery, millinery flowers and feathers.

Each piece of jewellery is meticulously cleaned so it shines once more and combined with vintage and freshwater pearls, Swarovski and Czech crystal and interesting vintage finds helps me create beautiful one of a kind headpieces, combs and pins so you can be sure that no other bride will be wearing the same on one of the most important days of your life.

In addition to making one of a kind headpieces I design contemporary hair accessories using modern components. I stock a selection of beautiful antique wax tiaras, and fabulous vintage accessories. I also have a large collection of wonderful, authentic vintage bridal gowns available to try at my studio in a charming Edwardian villa house on the Wirral pennisular. Appointments Sat/Sun. I hope you like what you see ...

About

SixpennyBride

Hello there, welcome to my shop.
My name is Jacky and I have always been an 'old head on young shoulders' (although my shoulders are fairly old now too!)
From an early age you could find me rummaging around vintage shops with my mum before they became fashionable, in search of treasure and my love affair with antiques and vintage ware has remained a constant.
I only stock items that I have fallen in love with and only make bridal accessories that I would love to wear. I hope you love them too!

Xx

Hello and thanks for popping by!

All the items you see in my shop are antique or vintage or handmade by me.. The handmade vintage headpieces are all one off designs made with love by me in my home studio so once it's gone, it's gone!.

I also make a limited number of contemporary headpieces and hair accessories; these are usually made to order and can be customised to suit your wedding theme/colour.

I use vintage and sometimes antique jewellery, buttons, vintage millinery flowers and interesting finds when making each vintage headpiece so please be aware that occasionaly they may have some minor tarnish or a little gem missing, but all the jewellery will be clean and such minor imperfections will not detract from the overall beauty and uniqueness of each piece.

If you see something that you like, but it's just not quite what you are looking for to complement your wedding dress or outfit, then please get in touch and I would be pleased to make something totally unique for you.

All the wedding dresses and accessories you see are authentic vintage or antique - not retro/reproductions so will have some history, but are nonetheless beautiful, clean and completely wearable.

I do not accept returns on vintage wedding dresses, wax tiaras or bespoke orders and I appreciate that buying such an important item on line can be daunting, but I'm here to help so please ask to see more photos and ask as many questions as you feel necessary to help you make your purchase.

Dress measurements are always taken with the dress laid on a flat surface and one side only, so please double the measurements to calculate the width.
If you're unsure of your measurements I'd suggest you take a dress that fits you well (not too tight) and compare it's measurements to the dress that you are interested in purchasing.
I recommend that you are 1 inch smaller than the dress you wish to purchase as some dresses do not have any zipper or button openings - it is always easier to take a dress in than to let it out.

I do my best to photograph and describe items to clearly show any flaws, and I welcome any queries you may have. I always send more photos if required so please just shout out as I want you to be totally satisfied with your purchase.

Lastly, you won't find items like mine on the high street as they are all unique and are either made by me or at least 45 years old so you can be sure that no one else will be wearing the same dress or accessory as you ❤️

HEADPIECES
The majority of my handmade headpieces are made with vintage and antique jewellery, sometimes dating back to early 1900 and so may have minor tarnishing or a missing stone or two. I will note any major flaws in the condition report and/or include in the photographs.

My vintage headpieces are very dear to me as each one has it's own story to tell and are just waiting for you to add yours...Unlike new, mass produced headpieces that are very glitzy, bright and sparkly, you will find that my headpieces gently twinkle (although I do sometimes sprinkle a dusting of sparkle by way of Swarovski, Czech and vintage glass crystal!)

I really love making these beauties and have taken great care to package them so they reach you in the beautiful condition they left me so would ask that you please handle them with care being mindful not to get make up, grease, hairspray or perfume on the jewellery or the ribbon wrapped band as it may tarnish the jewellery and I don't accept returned headpieces that are dirty or damaged.

DRESSES
Dresses are between 110 and 45 years old so will not be brand spanking new; they have all been professionally cleaned, but will have a history. I indicate where there are issues, but most are minor flaws which don't detract from their unique beauty.

I have over 80 authentic vintage wedding dresses at my studio in Wirral, England.
The dresses date from 1910 to 1970s and fittings are by appointment so please get in touch if you'd like to view/try on.

Due to their uniqueness and sometimes delicate nature, these old ladies need to be treated with respect so please be extra careful when trying them on prior to your Big Day and do not wear make up, perfume or freshly applied anti perspirant as all of these can leave marks which ruin the dresses - they are one offs which cannot be replaced.

Important to note:

Due to the age of the dresses, the majority will not be flame retardant so please be careful around naked flames, candles etc.

I do not accept returns or exchanges on wedding/occasion dresses, antique and wax tiaras and bespoke (made to order) accessories so please check your measurements carefully and ask as many questions as you like and for as many photographs as you like.

Ideally you should be at least 1 inch smaller than the measurements of the dress for it to be a comfortable fit.

Wedding/occasion dresses, antique and wax tiaras and bespoke/ custom orders are non returnable.
Cancellation of bespoke orders carry a 15% restocking fee

Last of all, in the unlikely event you are unhappy with anything you buy from my shop then do please contact me via email or convo within 2 days of receipt or I will assume you are happy with your order.
With the exception of dresses, antique/wax tiaras and bespoke items (where returns are not accepted) goods must be posted/shipped back to me unworn and in the original packaging within 7 days of receipt.
No returns are accepted after this period.

UK RETURNS:

I ask that goods over £50 are returned by Special Delivery in the UK which is the only delivery method to provide insurance on these items as I cannot be responsible for items lost or damaged in transit upon their return.
If the item is damaged or lost during transit the buyer will be responsible for claiming through their postage insurance.

INTERNATIONAL (OUTSIDE UK) RETURNS

International returns must also be fully inured for your protection and sent via Priority Mail/Express Shipping only to ensure a timely return.

** International customers please note that if you are returning goods from outside of EU, you must complete and attach a customs form to the parcel stating that the package contains "Returned Goods". Please also write clearly on all sides of the parcel "RETURNED GOODS" **

Should this not be done, a customs fee will be levied on re-entry to the UK and this will be deducted from your refund. Please do contact me if you have any questions about this.

If the item is lost or damaged during transit then the buyer is responsible for the loss and for claiming on their postal insurance.
