About

Unique beautiful design, ethically produced in the UK.

Sky Siouki was founded in 2013 by Sky Procter, a printed textile design graduate. She explains why she decided to start up her brand saying;
"Completing my degree was a wonderful and exciting experience so after I finished university all I really wanted to do was to continue and improve on what I had done there. Selling my designs under my own name is important to me, I feel that my designs represent a part of me and I'd hate for my work to lose that quality which makes it unique."

Every Sky Siouki design is digitally printed, stemming from Sky's original illustrations of flora and fauna. The debut collection, 'A Curious Kingdom', is inspired by an eclectic range of sources indulging in vivid, fantastical ideals, suggestive of a vintage children's storybook. Enchanting dusky tones contrast vibrant pastels evocative of retro 50s culture.
In the second, newest collection, 'Flight', Sky focuses on the beauty and power of birds creating a selection of designs featuring detailed studies of different species of birds amongst abstract painted landscapes and rugged foliage. Behind each stunning illustration subtle transitions of natural greys and browns are contrasted by occasional streaks and sprays of bolder hues with fragments of gold leaf peeping out suggesting a scene of unexplored wilderness.

The design process begins with hours spent delicately drawing the illustrations using pencil, gouache paint and pens. These are then scanned, manipulated and collaged together using Photoshop. Sky uses film photography, paintings, fabric samples, dried flowers and some of her own family photographs to contrast her illustrations and bring together a design as a whole. Finally the designs are sent to the digital printers where the fabric must be prepared and printed using specialist equipment before getting sewn into finished products.

Every possible care is taken to make sure Sky Siouki products are produced ethically, which is a large reason why Sky uses digital print as it is a far less wasteful method of printing than screen. All products are also made entirely within the UK reducing Sky Siouki's carbon footprint and ensuring the highest standard of quality.
Digital print creates limitless possibilities of what can be printed, enabling Sky to experiment with using photographs and unusual textures in her work.

Sky Siouki is very open to taking on commissions from customers so if you have something particularly special in mind don't hesitate to get in touch!

Additional policies and FAQs
Please be aware that each Sky Siouki item is likely to have subtle differences since most products are either handmade or use natural materials meaning that their unique quality lies in their natural imperfections. This note is especially applicable to the stone coasters and placemats. The stone typically has an uneven texture with holes and surface cracks present. Therefore Sky Siouki will not accept returns of stone products under faulty grounds simply due to discontent with any natural imperfections of the above nature.

If you are interested in making a custom order Sky Siouki will be very happy to work together with you to meet your requests. Email Sky at sky [!at] skysiouki.com with your requirements to begin the process.

Frequently asked questions
Can I wash Sky Siouki coasters and placemats?

Yes! They are printed with a very resilient waterproof and heatproof ink that will withstand most cleaning products and scrubbing. Sky doesn't recommend submerging the entire item in water in order to protect the cork backing.

Why does my item appear different to the one in the photograph?

Each Sky Siouki product is handmade using natural materials meaning each one will appear unique with slight variances. The stone coasters and placemats in particular often have different natural markings and an uneven texture with natural holes and cracks present in the surface. These imperfections are in the nature of the product so please accept that your product is likely to vary to a certain degree from the one pictured when ordering.
