From the 25th May 2018, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) replaces the existing 1995 EU Data Protection Directive.

When you order anything from me (Lora Jones) and my shop (www.spinjones.etsy.com), I require information about you to complete the order. That information includes your name (or the name you have provided Etsy with), your address (or the address you'd like your items sent to), how much you have paid for the items, and how much you have paid for the shipping.

If you have left me any special instructions, they will be visible to me on your receipt.

If you have bought from me before, I will be able to access your previous orders. These will also show any previous addresses, and requests you've made to me.

We can both see this information.

I will occasionally use this information if I suspect a mistake has been made with your shipping address. If I suspect this I will contact you to confirm.

I also use this information to do my best to select sample fibres that you may like (by your previous colour choices, or fibre choices, or by selecting fibres you've not had before).

Once I have your order I will make a copy of the order for my accounts. I will not make a copy of your personal details.

A printout of your invoice will be included in your parcel. This is to help with any customs queries, as a back-up if the address on the parcel is damaged (it can happen), and as a receipt for you.

If you would rather I didn't include an invoice, please let me know. However, I must point out that it may cause delays at customs if a customs officer queries the price.

Your name and address is written by hand on the front of the parcel, along with my address (for returns). If you are outside of the EU I will also include a CN22 customs declaration which will state the contents of the parcel and the price of the contents in British Pounds. I mark the CN22 form as 'other'. I will NOT under any circumstances mark the CN22 form as 'gift'

Who else sees your information?

Once your order has left my workshop, it is taken to my local Post Office. There, your parcel will be processed by a member of staff. I will ask them for a proof of postage.
Your street, country, and postcode will be printed on the form. I will keep your proof of postage with my receipts for 5 years for tax purposes.

I also use Royal mail's 'Drop and go' service. I will leave my parcels with the post office to process at their convenience. Once your parcel has been processed I'll be able to access the recept online in my password protected account. It will not store any of your personal information, other than your postcode.

I will not disclose your information to anyone else unless it is for legal purposes.

How and why I contact you.

I may need to, from time to time, contact you to confirm your address, to let you know of any problem with your order, or to answer any questions you have asked me. I will do this on Etsy using Etsy's messaging service.

I do not have a newsletter. Any notifications from me will be in regards to your order. Etsy may contact you with promotions which may or may not include my shop and products. These have not been sent by me and you have the option to unsubscribe at any time. If you have problems with this, please contact Etsy.

Contact on social media.

I currently use Instagram and Ravelry for social networking purposes. I would rather you didn't contact me on these platforms in regards to your orders or potential orders. Please keep it on Etsy.

I will not divulge your order history or personal information on these, or any future social networking platforms I may use in the future.

You are welcome to talk about items you have purchased from me whenever, or wherever you like.
