Danish Creativity Combined with Danish Practicality

Stof & Nonsense is a family enterprise and has evolved from our love of textile arts and crafts. We have all grown up surrounded by “crafty” people, who passed on their knowledge and skills to each new generation.

Our philosophy is that a useful object can be beautiful too and we endeavour to make our creations practical as well as decorative.

We are strong supporters of Helen and Douglas House in Oxford ( and from time to time we will be selling quilts and other items to raise funds for this charity.

All items are pre-laundered and carefully wrapped before dispatch. With allergies in our family, we know only too well the precautions needed and all our quilts are created in smoke and pet free conditions. For the laundering we use non-biological washing powder and no fabric conditioner.

We are great believers in looking after our environment, and whenever possible, we will use recycled/recyclable materials, from sourcing acid-free tissue paper for wrapping to boxes for sending - historically, isn't that what patchwork is about, recycling and up-cycling?

If you have any concerns, or need further information, please don't hesitate to email us.

Frequently asked questions
How will my order be shipped?

We ship via Royal Mail and higher value items will be sent using a “signed for” service, this is reflected in the P & P charge.

Please note: we depend on the service of the Post Office and cannot guarantee a shipment will arrive with you by a certain date - once handed over, your parcel's journey is entirely in the hands of the postal service!

How are the items made?

All our items are handmade - for the piecing and some of the quilting we have used our sewing machines, any applique and the majority of the quilting is done by hand.

This means every piece is unique and may contain the occasional minor imperfection; we hope you will agree that this only adds to their charm and individuality.

How accurate are the photographs?

All photographs are taken in natural daylight in order to produce as true a representation of this item as possible.

However, please bear in mind that computer monitors display colours differently and there may be some small variation in the colours you see on the listing's photographs compared with the finished product.
