It started out with rags

I have always loved clothes, to me they are a wonderful way of expressing yourself. When I was about 7 I learned to hand sew and from there I made clothes for my toys and began altering and mending my own clothes, a new button here, a cut off neck line there. Another huge part of my life is nature and the outdoors and once I learned the damage the fashion industry is having on the global environment I began to make mending even more of a habit and from there I got creative with things, trying my best to keep clothes out of landfill and re-make them to give them years more of wearable life. My friends started giving me things they were throwing out to make into something new and I started to make more than I needed. So now I make them to sell, hoping that someone will love the things I make for as long as they are usable and perhaps raise a little awareness at the same time.
My favourite things to make are the doily t-shirts, I find the doilies in charity shops and some of them are so beautiful and intricate. Doilies aren't really the home décor fashion any more so it made sense to me to pair them with a t-shirt that is perhaps stained beyond help or has a large hole. I position the doily to cover these things, sew them down and then cut out the material underneath, maybe adding details such as a cabbage-leaf hem or rolled up sleeves, to make a new t-shirt, ready to be loved again!
