Announcement    Hello there and thank you for having a peep at my shop.

I have worked with glass for over 20 years now and it's a fantastic medium to work with. Painful at times with quite a few cuts and burns over the years.

My shop at the moment is going through an overhaul. I am offering free postage guarantee, recommended by Etsy, but of course we all know that this is not free at all as I don't know how many shops could offer this and not be ruined by not claiming this back somehow, especially when posting Worldwide! I am hoping to open a Worldwide shop and a UK shop because adding postage to items for those who wish to purchase in the UK, when postage has been added for the USA, makes items far too expensive for UK customers.

I will organise my listings and shops for 2021!

All my glass in my shops are designed and made by myself using techniques I have learnt from attending Masterclasses in the UK. I stopped teaching last year because I wanted to concentrate on making glass that I enjoy creating and of course receiving commissions. Commissions range from vases, plates, bowls to wall panels and kitchen and bathroom splashbacks. It's pure joy to get a commission, but when the excitement dies down its a bit overwhelming and a little panic sets in because you never know what those kiln faeries are going to get up to once you place your piece in it. Glass can move. Indeed it can. When I taught last year a lady made a copy of her house and put iridised glass in for windows. I take photographs of pieces after the person has finished glueing, and when it's in the kiln prior to cooking. This particular piece, the windows moved! I had photographs to prove it wasn't me lol!

One particular specialty I am concentrating on are memorial glass items. I have made many rainbow bridges for lost loved ones, jewellery, where I make the silver blanks for the glass to go into. I haven't tried gold yet, but I have tried married metals, brass, silver, copper, and that was fun! You can add ashes to glass and with stained glass you can add hair too. You can add this to fused, but the hair will leave a ghost mark the same with breast milk. I have recently made a bespoke angel for a beautiful little girl who went to heaven when she was 5 years old. It was such an honour to make this for her parents. I enjoyed every moment of creating this piece and even though I was very tearful at stages of making this, I am so glad I did.

If you have lost someone very dear and you would like a memorial, then please do contact me for a chat - ros.artofglass [!at] outlook.com or text me on 07762350085 or of course on the contact form here on Etsy. I can more or less make anything with glass. A favourite flower, a favourite emblem, place. You tell me the likes and dislikes and I will work on something for you. Everything is approved by you prior to making anything.

Thank you for reading. I could of course go on and on about what I can make in glass, but time goes so fast enough when you're on a computer. I will try and add the process to my listings and a few interesting facts about wonderful glass!

Take care and keep safe.

It all started with the wrong craft course!

I first discovered stained glass when I had booked my Mum and me on a weekend stained glass course thinking it was painting on glass, but it wasn't it was making a leaded light panel. My Mum made a lovely cat and I made a flower.

I enjoyed it so much I decided to carry on with an evening classes for several years held in my village by Sarah Glover. She was a fantastic teacher and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

As a hobbyist I would make affordable items for the children to be able to spend their pocket money on at my son's school Christmas Fayres. Word got around and I made more and more items and they sold. I gained a fabulous commission for Abracadabra Restaurant in London for the late Dave West, where I made a 6' x 3' diamond patterned window with a cauldron design, another triangular diamond window panel and 40 diamond patterned candle holders.

I discovered Warm Glass years later and started teaching myself, but experimenting was costing me a small fortune in glass! I decided I should be taught properly and attended several courses by a professional and now absolutely enjoy working with both warm and stained glass and gained quite a few commissions. When personal events allowed me, I gave up my part-time job and decided to turn my hobby into a business.

In June 2014 I started Art of Glass Studio Limited. I am based in Eynsham nr Witney, Oxford.

I thoroughly enjoy working with glass and try to always do my best for my customers. I take great care when handling loved ones ashes and hair and make sure what I am making is exactly what you want. You are never pushed into any decision..

I have enjoyed working with glass for 20 years. I began making beautiful stained glass decorations for school Xmas fetes and gained commissions so I must have been doing something right! I started my own business in 2014.
