TheCraftSanctuary is taking a short break
The Craft Sanctuary is my quiet retreat, where I love to carefully make something beautiful that I hope will be treasured.
I love to sew and I love colour and started making my own clothes when I was just 9 or 10, taught by my Mum and later using the sewing machine I inherited from my Grandma.
I did A level textiles too, but most of my skills have been self taught, topped up by the occasional workshop to try something new and meet others for inspiration and the joy of making and chatting! Being creative just feels natural to me where fabric, threads or wool are involved.
Something handmade will always be unique and can be a very thoughtful gift. I don't rush, I enjoy the process itself, I'm probably at my happiest and most relaxed surrounded by fabric and sewing whether by hand or on the machine. I don't notice the time passing, it really is a sanctuary for me, but I want the finished product to be something to be treasured, for you to enjoy, gift or display in your home.
I prefer to use quality British fabrics, Liberty lawn is a special favourite. Linen is a classic too and the neutral colour compliments the other colours and will sit well in most settings.
These days, with my 3 children all grown up, I'm finding time to make a lot of my own clothes again and I plan to make small gifts using textiles to stock here.
I design everything myself and my inspiration can come from all sorts of places, but colour and nature and dog walks are where I get most of my ideas.
Thank you for reading this far and for browsing my shop. Do get in touch if you would like me to make something that you can't see here, or a variation of what you can.
If you choose to buy something, I'll wrap and post it to you personally.
Love from Vicky.
