About TheDancingWoodman

On Etsy since 2018

Welcome and thanks for taking the time to view the shop!

I started The Dancing Woodman in the beginning of 2018 as I really wanted a rustic TV unit and thought I could have a go at making one myself. Armed with just a Black and Decker palm sander at the time I set about the task! I really enjoyed making it and after posting it on my own social media and receiving a lot of positive comments, I thought I would make more things, and it progressed from there…

I initially started this as a hobby alongside full time work, a 12 year career in retail management. Making things in my garden shed when I had the time!
The passion for this got the better of me, as I love what I do so I decided to take the jump and do this full time as a career from January 2020.

Since then the business has grown, moving from the shed and now into my second workshop in the space of 6 months, shipping all over the UK and internationally including the US. My workshop is located in Botley, just outside of Southampton, UK.

I make a variety of pieces from desks, tables, benches, coffee tables to small items such as bath caddies and trays. I make unique custom pieces too and specialise in rustic pieces from materials that are reclaimed and locally sourced. I like to ensure that each item of furniture that we make is as individual as the next and no two pieces are the same, giving a sense of strong uniqueness.

Please message me for bespoke, made to measure items that you would like. I am always looking for a new challenge so if you have an idea that you would like me to make then please feel free to contact.
The time I need to prepare an order for shipping varies. For details, see individual item or get in contact🕺🏼

Frequently asked questions
How will my desk/table be able to get into my house/flat?

We send the legs separate to any table/desk orders. Everything is sent flat packed to make it logistically safer and more importantly, to make easier to get into its new home.

Are the legs easy to assemble?

Yes absolutely. We pre drill holes on the underside of any desk and table orders and clearly mark where screws should be inserted. Screws will be supplied with the legs too.

Care instructions

Our furniture is coated and stained in environmentally friendly oil wax. It is water resistant, wipe clean and can be cared with regular furniture polish. For further care, we recommend using maintenance cleaner every 6 months

Do you make custom pieces?

Yes absolutely! We love making custom orders and are always looking for a new challenge!
Feel free to send us a message along with any dimensions and pictures of inspiration and we will look into a personalised quote for you.

What are your lead times?

Lead times are stated on each product listing. Generally, larger items such as desks, bookcases and dining tables will take longer to build and require longer lead times. This can fluctuate depending on our workload but can be anywhere from 4 weeks onwards. Smaller items such as caddies and trays do not take as long and can be dispatched from a week onwards. Please check on the listing for an up to date lead time.

Do you ship outside of the UK?

Yes, we can ship internationally. To enquire please get in touch with us with what you are after and we can get back to you with a personalised shipping quote.

Why doesn't my product look exactly the same as the picture in the listing?

Because our wood is reclaimed, it's not an exact science. Different wood reacts differently to the oil, and each piece is different to the next. That's what we love! If you're after an exact colour match, rustic furniture might not be for you.

Are my products suitable for outside?

If you would like a table for outside then just like all outdoor wooden furniture, the better care you take of your table, the longer they will last.

Even though we treat our outdoor furniture to be weatherproof, a rainproof cover is strongly recommended, especially for the winter months or for any periods that the table is not being used. We suggest that you apply a coat of finish once or twice a year.

If you want to keep your piece looking fresh, please get in contact with us and we will happily point you in the right direction.
