Designing cross stitch is such an exciting and inspiring journey.

I’m Laila (pronounced Lilah if you’re wondering). I’ve been working in the crafting industry for over 15 years. Mainly in paper crafting, running Lili of the Valley with my best friend. I love working with many talented and diverse artists to create craft based products for individuals to use but my first love has always been cross stitch.

I can remember as a child being fascinated how those small black and white patterned squares could hold the secrets to creating such intricate, jewel-bright, tactile creations - and I’m still almost as fascinated now. Watching a stitched design come together is so exciting and gratifying.

I also love the process of taking a piece of art and lovingly transforming it’s story into thread. It’s a painstaking process and requires a lot of patience and dedication - which is proof to me how much I do genuinely enjoy its creation - as I’m the least patient person in the world! Getting me to sit still for any length of time is an achievement in itself. But even though I’m creative and impatient, I’m also a massive perfectionist so creating top quality, easy to use, accurate charts and perfectly colour matched artistic designs is also extremely important to me.

I’m just starting out on this cross stitch journey and have been very flattered by the response so far. I’ve got so many plans and ideas for future launches, I’m overflowing with them, so watch this space for ideas and inspiration, if you like cross stitching pretty, unique and eye catching designs.

Happy stitching,

Laila x

Frequently asked questions
I’ve noticed in some of your designs, there are DMC colours I’ve never heard of (such as 2 Tin) are these corrrect?

Yes, DMC launched an additional 35 colours to add to their vast range in Feb 2018. They’re a lovely and much needed (in my opinion) addition to their range and definitely worth using.

Some of your more complex designs include a thread length chart. The total column for the amount of thread required is just a number - what units is this measurement in?

It’s in metres. For some reason, my stitch program gives the measurement unit in the Length column but not in the Total column - so if a colour in your design is listed as needing 3.5 - it’s 3.5 Metres of thread. A standard DMC skein has 8m of thread on it.
