It started with a table!

When my father (a very talented artist and carpenter) passed away, he left me his pyrography machine. Too heartbroken to use it, it collected dust for quite a few years. I tinkered here and there, but my heart wasn’t in it.

One day my sister gave me an old table, my husband Jon suggested putting a design on it and the pyrography machine sprang to mind. We decided a Dungeons and Dragons Tabletop (Hex-map) and different pictures along the edge would look cool and have a practical use, we wanted it to look like an old tavern table. I drew up a design (with input from Jon and our 2 daughters Aradia & Meridian who are also avid gamers) and set to work. From this point every time I used the Pyrography machine, I really began to enjoy it and felt a connection with my Father.

The table is still a work in progress and is, for me, a form of relaxation, almost meditation (though I keep getting side tracked on other projects). Here’s some recent progression pictures: http://imgur.com/a/cjNwN

Jon posted online and the positive feedback was overwhelming, we also got lots of purchase enquiries. As I had recently finished a teaching degree (following on from an Arts Degree), we decided to give it a go. Being huge ‘Nerds’ already, we already had the knowledge and background to understand our customers’ wants and needs.

We have been blown away by the sales and positive feedback from customers, we constantly strive to develop new designs and creations and incite laughter and excitement in our work.

We love doing custom and one off pieces, we take designs and ideas and apply them to boxes, chests, trays, jewellery, keyrings and any other useful accessories we can think of for both the modern day and old school gamers, geeks and nerds, because you are our people!

Welcome to The Loot Lair! We specialise in unique hand made and hand finished creations and designs. We create tabletop gaming accessories, props and costumes for larping or renaissance faires, geeky and gamer themed gifts and accessories, Wyrd supplies and other unusual or just for fun items. We sell things that we love, are passionate about (or that just make us laugh), we hope you will love our items too.

All items are not only decorated or detailed by hand, many are also hand made, pre-loved or repurposed, ensuring that every item we sell is completely unique and environmentally sustainably sourced. If you have any specific requirements or want to discuss a custom design made just for you, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

OUR PROCESS
Once your order is received our loot goblins set to work pillaging from fallen adventurers, *ahem, I mean working hard on your specific piece of lovely Loot carefully first sanding, shaping, drilling, polishing, then applying any relevant design templates by hand so it’s ready for its next stage. Some of our processes are quite lengthy, so in busy periods there can be days or even weeks (as reflected in the ‘estimated ship date’ for your item) before the next little goblin begins to apply the burning, carving and / or engraving, additional adornments and touches of awesome such as studs, lining, protective oiling, etc. to make your finished piece of loot as awesome as possible. Our loot Goblin then carefully wraps and boxes up your piece of loot ready to ship out. Aren’t goblins wonderful?

Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalised orders
  • Perishable products (like food or flowers)
  • Digital downloads
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
  • Items on sale
Returns and exchange details
We hope you’ll have a smooth transaction and love our items as much as we do, but we know that issues can arise for number of reasons, we will work with you to resolve these issues and try and reach an amicable outcome, but just incase;

AT POINT OF SALE (when you buy)
• If you are unsure of anything, please contact us with any questions BEFORE making a purchase and committing to an order.
• If you have any issues or questions that arise immediately after purchase, please contact us straight away (within 1 hour of purchase for ‘ready to ship’ items) to ensure that we can take any relevant action before your item is shipped.
• Etsy offers a 24hour period in which any UNSHIPPED, UNPERSONALISED and UNMADE orders can be cancelled for a full refund, for this reason, we do not start work on any Made-to-order or Personalised / Custom items until this period has expired as it also gives you peace of mind to know that you can make changes.

ISSUES WITH A RECEIVED ITEM:
• For items damages or lost in transit, please see our ‘shipping policies’
• We make every effort to ensure that our images and description reflect the item for sale as accurately as possible and we make all reasonable attempts to ensure that your item reaches you without damage or loss. If you have any queries or concerns with your purchase once received, please ensure that you contact us within 7 days of receipt to discuss a solution.
• Where a refund of a purchase for any reason not above (excluding shipping charges) is offered, the buyer is responsible for costs involved in returning the item to us with original packaging. Once the item is received undamaged and in original packaging, any previously agreed refund of the purchase will be processed as quickly as possible.

CUSTOM / PERSONALISED / MADE-TO-ORDER ITEMS

We regret that after the initial 24hour period we are unable to offer refunds for Custom, Personalised and / or made-to-order items, but will try to work with you to reach an agreeable outcome should any issues arise.

Due to the materials used, build process, scheduling and time commitment involved with your order, after 24hours, your purchase is considered a non-refundable deposit on materials and work to be carried out (Please see the top of our policies section for further information on our processes).
Payment
On our Etsy store we accept all payment forms through Etsy’s checkout system, payments must be made in full and CLEARED before items are sent out. Please see our refunds policy with regards to refunds or cancellations.
Delivery
We are happy to offer reduced shipping costs with combined postage for multiple purchases, thanks to etsy’s clever shipping function, you should be offered an automatic calculation when you check out, if not, drop us a message and we’ll see what we can do. Once dispatched, you will receive a notification from Etsy that your parcel is on it’s way.

We try to ensure that where possible, our packing materials are environmentally friendly and sustainably sourced and will frequently recycle our packaging (we're not really sending you a blender or box of oranges), this keeps packaging costs down and allows us to pass those savings on to you as well as minimising our waste and impact on the environment.

We are a home business and have two fluffy dogs that shed a lot, while we do our best to avoid sending complimentary dog hair to you, one or two strands may find their way into your package. If you have extreme allergies to dogs (or cats), please let us know and we will discuss options.

The Loot Lair ships only Priority / Tracked / Signed for shipping (or express upon request), this provides you with the most efficient service, most control, insurance and general piece of mind. You will be provided with relevant tracking number once your item is dispatched.

Any import / customs / duty costs or issues are the responsibility of the buyer.

Please note – The Loot Lair is not responsible for packages lost or damaged in transit. Items are shipped ‘Tracked’ / ‘Signed for’ to give you the best control over your item and also the best insurance, if you have any special delivery instructions (e.g leave package on porch) please let us know at the point of purchase. Items shipped domestically (USA) will be insured for up to $100, international items (outside the USA) are insured for up to $200. PERSONALISATION
• If you purchase a personalised item, please confirm details in the notes field or email us quoting your purchase reference as within 24 hours of purchase and clearly state your personalisation requirements. Personalisation may incur an additional fee depending on it’s complexity, where applicable we will contact you as quickly as possible after purchase with information on any additional charges for your requirements.
• Please note that your item will not be shipped until personalisation that has been added has been confirmed and approved by you (we will message you with a photograph of the finished personalized element where relevant).

CUSTOM DESIGNS
Our standard process for custom pieces has been fine tuned to ensure your experience is as smooth as possible and keeps you both informed and in control. Each step is detailed below:
• Initial Custom order request received from Customer along with details of what is required.
• Once we confirm that we are able to meet your needs, we will confirm the initial Artwork / Design fee, provide you with a link to our Custom Artwork / Design Fee listing and confirmation of which type of fee to select from the drop-down menu. Artwork / Design varies, but is generally £20+ (this is for a rough design, large designs or intricate designs may incur a larger Artwork fee, when £20 this consists of £10 custom Artwork fee, £10 to be deducted from the total amount of agreed custom piece). Please note, this fee is non-refundable (though we can provide a very rough estimation of final piece price at this time, it will be subject to the intricacy and size final design, along with other factors)
• Artwork fee is paid by the customer, initial design* is generated and emailed to the customer (please note, the design remains the intellectual property of the loot lair and is not supplied for use in any other form by any other party unless specifically agreed in writing prior). As part of the custom artwork fee, a maximum of 2 revisions (where needed) are included free of charge.
• Customer approves the design.
• We provide a price for producing the finished custom piece and approximated shipping fee.
• Once agreed, a Private Custom Order listing is generated for the agreed item.
• When the second listing is paid, the order is scheduled to be created as soon as possible, taking into account other orders already scheduled. (if alternative / expedited / insured shipping is required at any stage, the cost of this will be extra and payment must be received prior to shipping out).
• We will supply you with incremental pictures of the design process where applicable (some of which will require your approval before moving forward in the creation process) including initial pencil sketch of the design on the physical item. If at any time additions or amendments are required, contact us as quickly as possible to increase the likelihood that we can accommodate your needs (these additional may incur additional charges).
• If we feel that there are any changes required to the design that will improve the finished piece, or if any elements will negatively impact the finished product, we will communicate with the you and gain your written consent before any changes are made.
• Custom piece is complete; photographs are sent to the customer to gain approval of the finished piece. We will not ship the piece until we receive your written final approval.
• Final piece is packed and shipped to you and you can enjoy you lovely custom loot!

Privacy
This Privacy Policy describes how and when I (The Loot Lair) collect, use, and share information when you purchase an item from me, contact me, or otherwise use my services through Etsy.com or its related sites and services.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to the practices of third parties that I do not own or control, including Etsy or any third party services you access through Etsy. You can reference the Etsy Privacy Policy to learn more about its privacy practices.

Information I Collect
To fulfil your order, you must provide me with certain information (which you authorised Etsy to provide to me), such as your name, email address, postal address, payment information, and the details of the product that you’re ordering. I may store and process your information through third-party hosting services in the US and other jurisdictions. As a result, I may transfer your personal information to a jurisdiction with different data protection and government surveillance laws than your jurisdiction. If I am deemed to transfer information about you outside of the EU, I rely on Privacy Shield as the legal basis for the transfer, as Google Cloud is Privacy Shield certified.

If you reside in certain territories, including the EU, you have a number of rights in relation to your personal information. While some of these rights apply generally, certain rights apply only in certain limited cases. I describe these rights below:
• Access. You may have the right to access and receive a copy of the personal information I hold about you by contacting me using the contact information below.

• Object. You can object to (i) my processing of some of your information based on my legitimate interests and (ii) receiving marketing messages from me after providing your express consent to receive them.
