The Old is New Again strives to be ethical, environmentally, and socially sound by appreciating and reusing antique cloth, bringing them new life by re-creating classic vintage design which will never go out of style.
We use all sorts of heritage materials include antique French lace, hand embroidered linens, Ethnic traditional, heirloom textiles and vintage textiles including block prints.
🌱Any new material bought and used is made from certified (GOTS) 100% Organic Natural Cotton to ensure the most sustainable practices.
Our beautiful PussyWillow range of Victorian inspired pyjamas are all made from unbleached certified organic cotton & vintage lace which include nighties, bloomers, corset covers, bralettes, lingerie and luxury lounge wear.
Finest Sand-wash silk gowns, blouses, skirts & lingerie and face masks individually hand-painted using traditional brush painting technique and machine washable paints.
New natural hand-dyed & relief painted pieces reveal delicate blossoms and leaves, creating simple yet delicately beautiful one of a kind clothing.

“The old is new again” are the last few lines from the poem:
"To Five day old Alyssa Jeanne, from her granddad whom she hasn't seen” ... written by my grandfather, and poet, Richard Work.
I've always loved old things, from the time I could remember, they hold life, and tell a story.
Everyone is so quick to look forwards, they forget to look back.
In this throw away society I want to create heirloom-quality clothes using textile art (painting) combined with ethical fabrics including fine sand-wash silk, hand embroidered linens, vintage lace and organic cotton.
In 2002 I began to study the traditional art of Chinese brush painting. I now have an art degree in textiles & painting and love experimenting with natural dyed, patterns, colour and relief painting with bleach.
In 2014 I opened my shop on Etsy from my Studio in Saigon, Vietnam 🇻🇳 where I have lived since with my husband and my girl (born 2019) 3 cats and a rabbit.

Originally from Vancouver Canada, Alyssa lived in Brighton, UK for a dozen years then Saigon, Vietnam since 2014. For over 20 years she has practiced Traditional Chinese Brush painting in different forms & studied Creative Arts BA(hons) in Textiles
Shop policies
All materials are ethically sourced and sustainable using 100% Organic Natural Unbleached Cotton, GOTS certified, dead-stock finest silks, vintage textiles, embroidered cloth, hand-dyed colours, & charity shop lace and trims.
Individually made pieces, many one of a kind, Uniquely hand-brush painted using colour-safe paint permanent and washable.
Everything is designed and hand-painted by Alyssa in her studio in Saigon.

Frequently asked questions
Care instructions
For best care, garments should be hand-washed in warm water with a gentle eco-friendly soap and air-dried. Organic cotton and hand-painted pieces can be machine washed on delicate cycles in cool-warm water. Air dry is best. Can iron on cotton settings.
All ethnic fabric should be washed separately, as indigo dyes may run.
