Announcement    Coronavirus Update: I am still open and am doing all I can to pack your purchases with care. My estimate son dispatch date are still correct, however I cannot control any delivery delays once I have dispatched your item. Please allow extra time for your purchase to reach you.

Wherever possible I use recycled sterling silver. For example, my pebbles are melted down from my own scraps of silver. I also buy some recycled 'eco' silver sheet and wire. Some items are not yet available in recycled form, such as chains and earring backs. It's a work in progress!

About ThePineInTheValley

Simple jewellery using recycled silver made at my home workshop. Personalised gifts & commemorative jewellery for you and your loved ones.

Hello I’m Jen. I’m a mum of two living in Oxfordshire, UK.

I’ve always been creative and can turn my hand to most crafts. I’m that person who, when out shopping constantly says things things like “I could totally make that”.

I found my way to silversmithing after my younger son died, aged 5 months, in 2017. I signed up for a silversmithing summer school as I had a strong desire to do something with my hands and to do something just for 'me'. I fell in love and haven’t stopped making since. For me, silversmithing is very mindful and I love to lose myself to the process of making.

My pieces are simple, inspired by nature, and created in memory of my beautiful son Caspar. I love to make individual personalised pieces, particularly ones that help you to remember a lost loved one. Please get in touch if you would like my help with this.

I’ll use recycled (or reused when it comes to the outer postal packaging) materials whenever possible: this is a work in progress. So far, I'm using recycled silver and recycled cardboard boxes (they still look pretty and are very high quality!).

My sales will also be fundraising for two special charities who cared for my son and my family: SSNAP (Support for the Sick Newborn and Premature) at the John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford, and Helen and Douglas House Children’s Hospice. One pound from each sale will be divided between these two amazing charities.

Is recycled silver hypoallergenic?

The recycled silver I use is sterling silver. If your skin is normally happy with sterling silver, it should be no different with the recycled silver I use.

Is all your silver recycled?

Wherever I can I use recycled sterling silver. I am not yet able to source recycled silver chains, earring posts and backs, or other findings such as bracelet clasps (unless they are stated as handmade by me in the item description) these items are standard sterling silver. The move to recycled silver is a work in progress and I will change fully to recycled silver as soon as I can.
