About TheRegularGnoll

Hi, I’m Kerry and my full time profession is therapeutic radiography, i.e. treating cancer with radiation. However, I have always been quite creative, which saved us a lot of money when we got married as I made most of it by hand!

After our wedding, I felt a little lost with without any creative projects, so I started an Etsy shop selling hand made jewellery and decorations. The shop ran for about 18 months but wasn’t really scratching the creative itch, so I closed it.

Fast forward a couple of years and a number of things coincided to create The Regular Gnoll; I developed CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome) after brain surgery, I was signed off work on long term sick and, we became friends with some people who happened to play Dungeons & Dragons.

We joined their new campaign and were quickly hooked. My husband found a YouTube stream called Critical Role and very soon we were watching multiple episodes per night. As our own campaign progressed I decided to create a box in which I could store my dice (I hadn’t yet developed a dice addiction), and also roll them when playing. It proved a big hit with the rest of the party and soon I was making more. Then it occurred to me, maybe I could make dice boxes themed on the characters from Critical Role? The Mighty Nein boxes came into being and I reopened my Etsy store, this time with a more D&D appropriate name. As we caught up with campaign 2 of CR and started campaign 1, Vox Machina boxes soon followed.

The Chest of Many Layers idea hit me late one night as I struggled with a insomnia phase of my CFS. I now had an ever growing dice hoard and wanted to store them in sets so, I threw together a very quick prototype and pitched to a CR group on Facebook; instant hit. I added the magnetic roll tray and hey presto! The Chest of Many Layers was born.

The rest, as they say, is history. The present is currently one of development; of the products, the process, the company and my work area thanks to my Kickstarter backers. After that? Who knows!
