Life is Beau!

Established 2014 The Bowtie Boutique AKA "TBB" for short is the creation of owner and designer Amanda McLennan, born and bred in Scotland and a student from the Scottish borders textile college. Based from a home studio in rural Perthshire, we really couldn't be any more authentically Scottish if we tried!

We are small, wildly independent and dedicated to working and developing a strong and unique range, hand crafting from start to finish every item produced with meticulous attention to detail in all aspects.

Are we green? Yes, but we are definitely aiming higher and working toward as much of an environmentally friendly business as possible. Presently we source many of our materials from local businesses and other Etsy businesses to support them but aim to find even more ethically produced materials on our journey forward. We use minimal packaging, all of which can be recycled. Working from a home studio helps a lot in reducing our footprint. No factories or commuting. We only use what we need, when we need it and a lot of the work is done by hand. Scrap materials and off cuts are often used in personal craft projects or submitted to recycling facilities.

The following items can't be returned or exchanged
Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalised orders
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
  • Items on sale

RETURNS POLICY

If you do change your mind about your order then we will of course happily refund the original cost provided you are within our policy.

Items must be returned in the exact condition as received which is new, unworn and in their presentation box. Please contact us prior to returning items within 7 days of receipt. You have 30 DAYS in total from date of purchase to return your items. We won't refund out with this time scale. Customers are liable for return postal costs.

We do not offer exchanges, items are refunded and new orders can be placed. We do not refund any customised orders, bespoke items, swatches or personalised items.

Cancellation of your order can be made up to the point of dispatch, thereafter is is treated as a return.

If items do not make it back to us we simply will not refund. Refunds are only issued when goods have been properly returned and checked.

RETURN PROCEDURE

Simply package up your items securely in their packaging with your order receipt if you still have it and send back to the following address. Please retain your postage receipt with proof of postal address in case of any unlikely delivery issues.

INTERNATIONAL RETURNS-

The same policy applies to all customers worldwide but in addition if you are returning an item from overseas please correctly label the customs information as RETURNING GOODS. There is no customs charges for returning goods to the UK and should you incorrectly label them then we will either deduct the customs fees we incur from your refund or refuse the package which will then be returned to you taking a number of weeks and causing long delays in the overall process.
Payment
Payment is due upon purchase and goods will not ship until received in full. Etsy keeps your payment information secure. Etsy shops never receive your credit card information.

There are still delays within the postal service due to the impact of Covid 19 and we simply cannot guarantee that orders, especially international, will reach you within their usual timeframe. Thank you so much for your understanding!

PROCESS-
Firstly we need a little production time to craft your new items! This is currently between 3-5 days but most of our orders are completed and shipped sooner. Larger orders for weddings and personalised items will take that bit longer but we will always be in communication with you!

UK:
Free Delivery – 2-4 Working Days. (After Production)
1st Class Delivery – 1-2 Working Days. (After Production)

HOLIDAYS-
Delivery times do not include weekend's and UK Bank Holiday's when we are unable to send mail.

EXPRESS/UPGRADES-
We are unable to offer express shipping or shipping upgrades unfortunately. We kindly ask that you do not purchase an item with a note of a required date that is out with our current delivery possibilities, we will only have to cancel and refund you.

AFTER DISPATCH-
It is your responsibility to provide a correct postal address, accept delivery of items and arrange the collection/re delivery of items that are awaiting your response at your local depot/office. We realise mishaps can happen and should your order re direct back to us because of an incorrectly provided address, delivery refusal or left uncollected from your post office depot we are happy to send it out again at the additional postal costs paid by you. If you refuse an item, don't reply or don't wish to have the item re sent then we will refund the item cost deducting postal fees.

If you are awaiting an item and receive an “attempted delivery” card or have tracking information it is your responsibility to follow the instructions/online information to retrieve your item. Please note delivery will be attempted on more than one occasion usually before being held at your local depot for a short while awaiting your collection. Thereafter it makes it's way back to us. If you suspect/know that delivery was attempted then please contact your postal office and not ourselves to arrange collection. They are usually very informative and helpful in getting your mail to you!

Should you be returning an item please ensure the return address is clear and correct and retain proof of postage. We will not refund items that do not come back to us.

Can I send as a gift?

All of our bowties come in a presentation box (excluding westerns and pocket squares) If you are sending directly to someone as a gift you can choose the gift option at checkout with an added personal message.

Do you sell wholesale?

We would love to hear from anyone interested in stocking our items. We have a wholesale price list and terms of business available for any worldwide retailers. Please note that we do not work on a SOR basis.

How do I look after my bowtie?

We do not recommend machine washing any of our items except our pocket squares which should go in a cool wash and air dry. A press with the iron should finish it nicely. Note only do this with cotton based fabric not satin or silks.
For our bowties we recommend a damp cloth to remove any marks from the bow. Most of our designs have a detachable strap which you can remove to hand wash, air dry and press with the iron to finish. 
You can shoot some steam from your iron at your bowtie and use your fingers gently to reshape if it's looking a bit flat.
For bowties containing feathers please avoid getting the feathers wet or making contact with fragrance as it may damage them. They are fragile and delicate and best kept stored in their boxes.
