Il seme e l'idea alla base di Tribe Azure e del suo movimento artigianale globale sono iniziati più di 45 anni fa attraverso il lavoro visionario di Bomdon Ngodup, un imprenditore sociale pionieristico. Il suo incredibile viaggio risale ai primi anni 1960 nelle strade rurali dell'India del Nord. Proveniente da una famiglia aristocratica tibetana che fu costretta a mendicare e lavorare come operai a giornata in India, Bomdon iniziò a lavorare come venditore ambulante fin dalla tenera età.

Grazie per aver visitato il mio piccolo negozio. Tribe Azure è iniziato come un'operazione di strada su piccola scala in cui stavo comprando arti e mestieri da artigiani rifugiati tibetani appena arrivati e vendendoli per le strade di Kangra, una piccola città nella parte rurale dell'India settentrionale. I tempi erano duri per me e per i miei compagni rifugiati tibetani in quei giorni, poiché anche le necessità di base che diamo per scontate come cibo, acqua pulita ed elettricità erano scarse. Ma superando queste schiaccianti probabilità da umili origini, ero determinato a forgiare la mia visione per influenzare il cambiamento e sradicare la povertà attraverso soluzioni basate sul mercato.
Non importa quanto grande o piccolo, la cosa più importante credo sia fare la differenza in questo mondo mentre siamo qui, vivi per un breve periodo. Avendo sperimentato la vera povertà, lo stomaco vuoto di me e mio fratello, nessuno dovrebbe passare attraverso questo. Molte di queste persone hanno molto talento nei loro diritti. Quindi il mio tentativo è quello di trovare un mercato di ammiratori e acquirenti socialmente consapevoli per questi talentuosi artigiani sottovalutati. Credo che Etsy sia una piattaforma perfetta per mostrare alcuni degli incredibili lavori che questi artigiani sono in grado di produrre.

The seed & the idea behind Tribe Azure and its global artisan movement began more than 45 years ago through the visionary work of Bomdon Ngodup, a pioneering social entrepreneur. Her incredible journey dates back to the early 1960s in the streets of rural North India. Coming from an aristocratic Tibetan family that was forced to beg and work as day laborers in India, Bomdon began working as a street vendor from an early age.
For the last 40 some years, Bomdon has worked tirelessly to create sustainable economic opportunities for artisans in the developing countries of South & South East Asia. Through my efforts and unrelenting dedication, Tribe Azure has grown a global network of socially conscious entrepreneurs working to provide economic opportunities to artisans in developing countries.

Thank you for visiting my small shop. Tribe Azure began as a small scale street operation whereby I was buying arts & crafts from newly arrived Tibetan refugee artisans and selling them on the streets of Kangra, a small town in the rural part of North India. Times were tough for me and fellow Tibetan refugees in those days as even the basic necessities that we take for granted such as food, clean water and electricity was scarce. But through overcoming these overwhelming odds from humble beginnings, I was determined to forge my vision to affect change and eradicate poverty through market based solutions.
No matter how big or small, the most important thing I believe is to make a difference in this world while we are here, alive for a short time. Having experienced true poverty, the empty churning stomachs of my sibling and I, no one should have to go through that. Many of these people are very talented in their own rights. So my attempt is to find a market of admirers and socially conscious buyers for these talented undervalued artisans. I believe Etsy is a perfect platform to show some of the amazing work that these artisans are capable of producing.
