Announcement    Orders over the Christmas period -
Though our shop will remain open right over the Christmas and New Year period, please allow extra time for deliveries as our trips to the post office are likely to be a little more infrequent for the next fortnight or so. Thanks!

We are Trouvere - a duo of medieval minstrels based in North Yorkshire. We devote our time to researching, practicing and recording medieval music. We have over 50 medieval instruments in our collection and these can be heard on our various recordings. We also run the UK’s only festival of medieval music - Medieval Music in the Dales.

We produce sheet music editions of medieval music, as we have found that medieval music in modern notation is very difficult to find - especially if you do not know where to look. So far, we have produced five books of medieval music in notation with supporting commentary and, where appropriate, full lyrics and translations. These make perfect performing editions.

We have also produced a tunebook (Medieval Music in the Dales - Tunebook One) featuring twenty great medieval melodies perfect for playing on a variety of period and modern instruments - excellent for beginners.

Our next project is to produce a new CD and booklet set called "The Medieval Instrumentarium”, as a guide to the wonderful variety of instruments that were found in the medieval period. The CD will enable readers to hear the sounds and instruments being depicted in the book. We currently have a Kickstarter project underway to support this.
