I took my passion for cycling, the environment, style and creating jewelry and mushed them all together.

TUBED. It is not a new idea. We are not re-inventing the wheel. We are however making the wheel better. Taking something old and making it something new has been going on for hundreds of years. This is what we do at TUBED. But we take it a step further and make the old new and BEAUTIFUL.

TUBED sells accessories, mainly earrings, bracelets and necklaces from up-cycled bicycle inner-tubes. The business began on a long, gruelling, and life changing bicycling adventure through the west coast of Canada. With no craft supplies, old bicycle tubes were cut up to make sassy accessories for rare nights out on the town, and gifts to hosts that allowed us to sleep on their dusty but dry floors. That tour happened in 2011, the business took wings in 2012, and since then colour, and other textiles have been added to the designs, but the cycling, sustainability, and playful core values hold strong.

TUBED officially was born in 2012 in Ottawa, Canada. By 2015 TUBED was sold year round at seven stores throughout Canada. TUBED was featured at multiple markets and became recognized by both fashionistas and sustainability gurus in Ottawa. At the end of 2015 TUBED moved with its founder to Brighton, UK, where it is slowly building a new temporary home.

TUBED is a small business. The jewelry is created in my own home. I source the bicycle inner tubes from local bicycle coops. The jewelry is designed with hand cut and painted details. Along with designing jewelry, Tricia (the artist behind TUBED) creates a comic series, creates line drawings, and enjoys spending as much time as possible with her bicycle.

Since TUBED has begun, we have been involved with XO Velo photoshoots, diverted hundreds of bicycle tubes from the landfill, and lead workshops to teach other individuals how to create their own edgy up-cycled jewelry.

Tricia is also an illustrator and works with silver, check out her other work at http://www.triciamade.com/.
