Announcement    Under An English Sky Yarns and Notions is an outpouring of my love for England and all things related to the craft of knitting. My yarns are inspired by all that makes up my beautiful country. I am inspired by England's countryside, wildlife & seasons, it's history & heritage, it's literary characters, the sights, sounds and spirit of England. These stories are what have inspired my imagination since childhood and now inspire my yarns. Everything that is, that was, and simply abides 'Under An English Sky'.

I stock ready to ship and Dyed to Order yarns. There is a 1 -2 week processing time on the Dyed to Order yarns, however, typically I am able to ship Dyed to Order yarn in a week. I am continually updating my yarn stock, updates are published on my IG and Facebook pages.

About

Under An English Sky

My family and I immigrated to England from South Africa in 2011. I love this country and am inspired by the rich culture and traditions that are quintessentially English. We live, laugh, love and create Under An English Sky.

I have a love for yarn and knitting. So my shop is a natural outlet for beautiful things that relate to my loves. You will find hand dyed yarn whose colours are inspired by and tell a little of England's long and rich story, unique and bespoke stitch markers, project bags and other lovely knitting notions.

My daughter has joined me in creating for this little Etsy shop. She's very creative and talented. All the little Fimo charms, stitch markers, and progress keepers are created by her and are of an excellent quality! It is exciting to have this joint venture with my lovely daughter.

Links to my blog and Facebook page can be found under the 'Related Links'

and on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/underanenglishsky/

Thank you for visiting Under An English Sky ;)

I want you to be happy with your purchase, and hope that you love it! If you don't, please return it to me, undamaged, in the same packaging, within ten days of receipt and I will refund or exchange it for another item of the same value.(Shipping costs are to be paid by the customer.)
The only items I cannot accept as a return are special orders that have been made specifically for you and wholesale orders.

Payment
I accept Paypal, credit and debit cards, and Etsy Gift Cards.

Orders will only be shipped once payment is completed.

**PLEASE** ensure your Etsy & Paypal shipping address MATCH WITH THE SAME CORRECT SHIPPING ADDRESS. Otherwise your order will be delayed while I wait to confirm the correct address before shipping.
Shipping
All items are dispatched within 1-3 days or 1-2 weeks for Dyed to Order yarns after payment has been received and confirmed by PayPal. Items will be dispatched Mon - Fri, with the exception of Bank Holidays.

I try to keep shipping as low as possible. For this reason I have various shipping rates which relates to the size and weight of the items you purchase and with each option you can choose standard shipping or to upgrade your shipping option to tracked and signed for.

SMALL ITEMS: (Anything that fits into an A5 envelope)
Postage & Packaging within the UK is £3.00 with an additional £0.05 per item
(1st Class standard). If you wish to have your purchase tracked and signed for postage will cost as quoted in the shipping profile.

Postage & Packaging outside the UK is sent 1st Class via Royal Mail. Prices are as follows:
EU Countries: £3.50 and £0.10 for each additional item (1st Class standard shipping).

All Other Countries: £4.50 and £0.20 for each additional item (1st Class standard shipping)

LARGE ITEMS: (Project Bags, Hand Dyed Yarns using A4 postage sleeves)

Postage & Packaging within the UK is £3.95 with an additional £0.05 per item
(1st Class standard).

Postage & Packaging outside the UK is sent 1st Class via Airmail. Prices are as follows:
EU Countries: £6.00 and £0.10 for each additional item (1st Class standard shipping)

Postage & Packaging to Canada and U.S.A is sent 1st Class via Airmail and tracked. Prices are charged at £6.00 and £0.10 for each additional item (1st Class standard shipping). Due to a few parcels going missing I would highly recommend that you choose the optional Tracked and Signed for shipping option at checkout as I cannot be held responsible for missing orders once they have been shipped. Tracked and signed for will cost a flat rate of £10.50 for one large shipping packet, this fits around 5 to 6 skeins of yarn.

All Other Countries: £6.00 and £0.20 for each additional item (1st Class standard shipping)

Please note:
I cannot be held responsible for delays in delivery once the package has been passed to the Royal Mail or for delays in delivery due to circumstances out of my control, such as postal strikes or the Christmas holiday period when delivery is always slower. Should an exceptional event occur I will inform you of this at the time of purchase or as near to it as possible.

PLEASE NOTE I AM BASED IN THE UK AND SHIPPING OVERSEAS CAN TAKE TIME TO ARRIVE.

Shipping outside of the UK may take longer, up to as much as 6 weeks though it should be noted that this is not the norm - it can be incredibly quick - 2-3 working days to the rest of Europe and 3-7 working days to the US/Australia/New Zealand/Japan, etc.

Please note that for overseas shipping I cannot be held responsible for packages lost in transit once packages have been passed to the Royal Mail as insurance is not available on standard shipping. However, if there is a problem at any stage please do contact me and I will endeavour to rectify the problem to your satisfaction as soon as I possibly can.

I reserve the right to amend this, at my discretion, at any stage to an upgrade of recorded/special delivery (trackable) for UK orders or Airsure/International Signed For (trackable) for non UK orders at no additional expense to the customer but this will only apply on orders of a significant value e.g. over £20.00 GBP ex shipping in the UK and over £50.00 GBP to outside of the UK and this is only a guide not a given.

Please note that orders placed outside of the EU may be liable for customs duty/import taxes on delivery, this is entirely out of my control as are any delays in delivery due to customs interventions. Payment of such customs amounts are the responsibility of the person the package is addressed to.

Postal address - orders will be sent to the ship to address indicated on your Etsy order. Please ensure that this is your correct address and if there is a significant difference to your PayPal address that you contact me to confirm the correct and full postal address. I cannot be held responsible for undelivered packages due to discrepancies in Etsy to PayPal delivery addresses. Please note that your delivery, i.e. PayPal address, really should always be your Etsy address for security reasons - if it isn't please contact me.
Additional policies and FAQs
If you have a query regarding your order, please email the date of purchase, your user id, and the item(s) purchased. This will ensure a speedy response.
Please do not hesitate to email me with any questions: shirleyvels(at)talktalk.net

Please be aware that with artisan hand-dyed yarn the colours can run although I try to ensure that all my yarn is colourfast, darker colours are apt to run and I cannot be held liable for this. Please follow the washing recommendations which is to wash separately by hand in cool water.
Privacy
This Privacy Policy describes how and when I collect, use, and share information when you purchase an item from me, contact me, or otherwise use my services through Etsy.com or its related sites and services.

Information I Collect

To fulfil your order, you must provide me with certain information (which you authorised Etsy to provide to me), such as your name, email address, postal address, payment information, and the details of the product that you’re ordering. You may also choose to provide me with additional personal information (for a custom order of yarn, for example), if you contact me directly.

Why I Need Your Information and How I Use It

I rely on a number of legal bases to collect, use, and share your information, including:

* as needed to provide my services, such as when I use your information to fulfil your order, to settle disputes, or to provide customer support;
* when you have provided your affirmative consent, which you may revoke at any time, such as by signing up for my mailing list;
* if necessary to comply with a legal obligation or court order or in connection with a legal claim, such as retaining information about your purchases if required by tax law; and
* as necessary for the purpose of my legitimate interests, if those legitimate interests are not overridden by your rights or interests, such as 1) providing and improving my services. I use your information to provide the services you requested and in my legitimate interest to improve my services; and 2) Compliance with the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use. I use your information as necessary to comply with my obligations under the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

Information about my customers is important to my business. I share your personal information for very limited reasons and in limited circumstances, as follows:

* Etsy. I share information with Etsy as necessary to provide you my services and comply with my obligations under both the Etsy Seller Policy and Etsy Terms of Use.
* Service providers. I engage certain trusted third parties to perform functions and provide services to my shop, such as delivery companies. I will share your personal information with these third parties, but only to the extent necessary to perform these services.
* Business transfers. If I sell or merge my business, I may disclose your information as part of that transaction, only to the extent permitted by law.
* Compliance with laws. I may collect, use, retain, and share your information if I have a good faith belief that it is reasonably necessary to:
(a) respond to legal process or to government requests;
(b) enforce my agreements, terms and policies;
(c) prevent, investigate, and address fraud and other illegal activity, security, or technical issues; or
(d) protect the rights, property, and safety of my customers, or others.

Data Retention

I retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide you with my services and as described in my Privacy Policy. However, I may also be required to retain this information to comply with my legal and regulatory obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce my agreements. I generally keep your data for the following time period: 4 years.

Transfers of Personal Information Outside the EU

I may store and process your information through third-party hosting services in the US and other jurisdictions. As a result, I may transfer your personal information to a jurisdiction with different data protection and government surveillance laws than your jurisdiction. If I am deemed to transfer information about you outside of the EU, I rely on Privacy Shield as the legal basis for the transfer, as Google Cloud is Privacy Shield certified.

Your Rights

If you reside in certain territories, including the EU, you have a number of rights in relation to your personal information. While some of these rights apply generally, certain rights apply only in certain limited cases. I describe these rights below:

Access. You may have the right to access and receive a copy of the personal information I hold about you by contacting me using the contact information below.
Change, restrict, delete. You may also have rights to change, restrict my use of, or delete your personal information. Absent exceptional circumstances (like where I am required to store data for legal reasons) I will generally delete your personal information upon request.
Object. You can object to
(i) my processing of some of your information based on my legitimate interests and
(ii) receiving marketing messages from me after providing your express consent to receive them.
In such cases, I will delete your personal information unless I have compelling and legitimate grounds to continue using that information or if it is needed for legal reasons.
Complain. If you reside in the EU and wish to raise a concern about my use of your information (and without prejudice to any other rights you may have), you have the right to do so with your local data protection authority.

For purposes of EU data protection law, I, Nathan Martin, am the data controller of your personal information. If you have any questions or concerns, you may email me at
