About

Vintage Child and me

I studied fashion and textiles at CSM in London. This gave me an excellent start for opening my business as I have a wide knowledge of different fabrics and how to work with them. I started selling vintage part time online nearly five years ago and after a year or so I was able to turn it into my full time job.

My family has a history in craft and leather work so the progression into leather craft was a natural one for me, I went on a fantastic leather work course teaching traditional skills and modern design to develop my skills and found a true appreciation for leather. I am now lucky enough to work with some very talented craftspeople who have brought a fantastic all round skill set to Vintage Child.

As a creative person I put everything into my work, I am so grateful for all of your kind support of my little business and want to thank you for being a part of my journey.

The following policies should be read in full before ordering, by placing an order you agree that you have read and understood my shop policies.

Embossing:
Please contact me before you order if you would like your bag embossed directly. I usually charge an extra fee depending on the difficulty of the job and it is not possible on all bags. Embossed bags will be strictly non returnable so I usually prefer to emboss the matching luggage tags available to buy with your bag for a small charge.

Due to a restructure of my business some of my bags are now proudly handmade by a small workshop in India, I am the only person they work with in the UK. The family company is in its fourth generation and I have been working closely with the workshop to ensure the environment is a healthy, happy and ethical one. I design all my bags personally, my designs are original and the finished product is sent to me where I check each one and ship to you from the UK. If you would like any more information on this I am very happy to answer any questions.

Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalised orders
  • Perishable products (like food or flowers)
  • Digital downloads
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
  • Items on sale
Returns and exchange details
Returns:
I offer a 21 day money back guarantee on all unused items except for monogrammed bags, seconds and custom orders, so if your purchase isn't everything you hoped for then please send it back I will refund you upon it's return. Unfortunately I am unable to refund or reimburse postage costs.

Personalised items:
Please note that any item with personalisation added will be non-returnable.

Returns policies:
1. Please contact me within 7 days of delivery and ensure the item is sent back within 21 days with your returns form completed.
2. Ensure all protective padding is in tact and the item is in the same condition as it was dispatched.
3. Items should be packaged in the same way they were sent and not folded in any way as this creates creasing and can misshape the bag making the return non-refundable.

Returns documentation:
You may be liable to pay any import duties if an item is sent back with the wrong documentation and any returns sent from outside the EU should be marked properly and clearly as "Returned Personal Effects" in order for the package to clear customs. Your courier or Post Office will be able to help you further with this.

Exchanges:
As I have very limited stock I am unable to offer exchanges at the moment, if you would like to swap your purchase I ask you to send it back for a refund and re-order.

Cancelling an order:
You can cancel a transaction up to the point of shipping, if I have already shipped your item then you will still be able to return it once it has arrived. Unfortunately if an item has been embossed I will be unable to cancel that order and it is not eligible for a return.
Payment
Import Duties:
Some countries will charge import duties, it is your responsibility to pay for this so please check rates before ordering. In my experience US and Australian customs are fairly relaxed but Canadian customs are particularly strict and can charge up to 15% import duty on items valued over $20, please check with your countries customs and exports for more accurate information. You don't have to do anything in advance as customs will contact you if you are required to pay duty. If you have any questions at all about import duties please get in touch with me before your order.
Shipping
Shipping and delivery:
Leaving a phone number when you order can significantly speed up the delivery process and if the courier cannot deliver they will call you, your number will not be used for any other purpose. Please note that my higher value items will always need to be signed for, your package will be taken to the depot if no one is available or sometimes a re-delivery may be offered.

Standard delivery usually takes between five to 21 days depending on your location and does not come with tracking, express delivery usually takes one or two days in the UK and a few days everywhere else.

PLEASE NOTE: all delivery times are estimates and can depend on customs clearance, weather conditions, courier delays, technical difficulties and other unforeseen circumstances. International expedited orders will be processed as a priority and shipped via the fastest method possible but I cannot guarantee delivery times so please remember this when ordering.

Standard shipping prices for most items (prices are approximate and subjest to change, express delivery will incur an extra charge):
UK - £8.50
EU - £22.50
Non EU - £25
USA - £25
Canada - £30
Rest of the world (some exceptions apply) - £30

Delivery prices are fixed, I use a premium service for express delivery and standard delivery with larger items.

Excluded Addresses:
At the moment I am unable to ship to the UEA with standard shipping so please select express, I cannot ship to personal addresses in Russia as well as some military bases and PO Box address. Please get in touch before ordering with your address for more information. If you have read this far well done, not many people do, please get in touch for a little surprise sent with your order.

Wholesale:
If you would like to discuss discounts for large or wholesale orders please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Custom Orders:
I am more than happy to discuss customs orders but please remember they will incur an extra charge and may take considerably longer to make. Custom orders are bound by the same terms and conditions as my stock bags. However, custom orders are non returnable, if your custom bag is faulty it will need to be sent back for repair.

Design updates:
I am constantly working on my designs and making small changes to improve my products so the item you receive may vary slightly from the photography. The most common improvements I make are on the hardware and construction, the fundamental design and aesthetic remains the same.

Leather treatment:
My recommended leather wax (50ml) is available to purchase with your bag, this may sometimes be delivered separately. I usually treat my leather once every six months and am happy to give more detailed care advise on any of my leather products, just get in touch.

Liable:
We accept no responsibility for loss, damage or injury associated with any product bought at Vintage Child.

Discounts and promotions:
Prices are subject to change without notice, refunds will not be given if an item bought is later discounted.
