I am Roxanne Fontana, a singer / songwriter / recording artist / author from New York City, of Italian heritage. I began designing in Los Angeles in 2002 starting with jewelry. Beads are my love, and most especially ethnic vintage and antique beads, as well as modern faceted stone beads. In England I went to college in Coventry to learn how to make clothes, and that was next. I specialize in lingerie-style blouses with fabric exclusively from Italy and France. I have also made a line of Leather tops in the style of Jane Fonda in the movie Barbarella. I can be seen wearing one of my leather tops in my song video for ‘He Does The Look’ on youtube. I have also gone to school for hatmaking and make couture hats.. meaning they are individually done, loved, and not one size fits all! Measure your head with a tape measure like a hippie head band for the right size!

The clothes however are all one size, and fit only XS - (a smallish) M - sorry! My clothes evoke a true late 1960s and 1970s hippie chic. Everything is new. The fabrics are works of art. When you wear my clothes - the tops, hotpants, leggings, the hats, your look will evoke that era without looking overtly commercially retro. These clothes just come off as natural style, not retro. They wear very practically, and very comfortably. My look draws from a variety of sources, based on looks of the hippie era that appeal to me: California groupies / Chelsea antique market meets Brigitte Bardot, Anita Pallenberg and Britt Ekland. Those are my top style icons, and I think that my designs in jewelry, hats and clothes reflect exactly that combination.

I opened up a small boutique in Ledbury, England in 2013 called ‘Atelier Viva Fontana 1959’. As I tend to move around a lot, the shop was only up for less than a year.
I am now offering some of the Atelier stock through Etsy, at wholesale prices. My designs have been in other shops at twice the price they are on here!

MY PIECES ARE ZEITGEIST AND MADE OF SUPERIOR QUALITY. AT THE MOST THERE ARE ONLY A FEW MADE OF EACH DESIGN, MEANING NO ONE ELSE WILL HAVE ONE. EVERYTHING IS HANDMADE: THE HATS, THE CLOTHES, THE JEWELRY. THERE ARE GREAT SHOPS OUT THERE THAT ARE SELLING GOOD LOOKING STUFF BUT IN QUANTITY AND MACHINE-MADE WITH INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT. AND NOTHING HERE IS MADE IN CHINA, NONE OF THE COMPONENTS, NOR THE FINAL PIECES.

I promise to respond quickly (if it takes me a week it means I’m travelling and never do business or phone / computer communications when I’m travelling). Everything will be shipped directly from my location in England with insurance.
Returns are possible if you let me know ASAP what the problem is and pay for the postage back to me, with insurance!
