My little fox totem is a dear item to me. It's even lovelier in person. Thank you, Leslie, for taking such care in crafting and sending him on to me. We are going to have some good times together!

About

Opening to inspiration

At long last, I'm able to follow a muse wherever she wanders.
The older I get the more we like to wander with Mother Nature, so birds, beasts and blossoms star in all of my work.

I have always been a treasure hunter, drawn to shell-strewn seasides, antique shops and flea markets...to ruins and medieval churches. This passion for ancient times and old things has increasingly influenced my work in the last 10 years. Things broken and tarnished by use and time connect me to past lives, and spark my imagination.

I try to bring that well-lived look to my painting and sculpting. The opportunity to recycle old parts is a bonus! The recent series of painted icons was born when I found old wood molding at an architectural re-use warehouse. I think they bring a little sacred space to any part of the house.

The goddesses and garden creatures were inspired years ago when I happened upon an artifact auction catalogue. There I learned that such totems and ritual offering figures were common and necessary in the ancient world. Maybe we need them too.

And they live so well in the garden -- my other darling. I enjoy creating companions that can join me there, and I love to share them with you. Each is one of a kind.
